I'm worried that he's in the mix too. I mean, Phonak has had its share
of troubles in their short time. So it's hard not to imagine him being

They said that about Lance in 1999--that he only won because Pantani
and Ullrich weren't there. And he went on to win 6 more. I think anyone
would be thrilled to win the TdF even in a scandal-ridden year.

The question of my naivete aside, I think it's entirely possible that
these riders could've doped without Landis being involved/aware. It's
not like they live in a dorm together, or hang out when they're not
racing. Top level cyclists have their own doctors and trainers, so
it's entirely feasible that individuals can engage in questionable
behaviors without their teammates knowing about it, or participating in
the behavior if they do know about it.

names above, only Papists and Episcopalians* dope. With Lance, he being
not religious, it's a question of whether he follows Ayn Rand in theory
(keeps promises) or in practice (cheats flagrantly on one's spouse).

*I can't back that up, but if Hamilton isn't an Episcopalian name, I
don't know what is.

I think that will probably stop here. I doubt that sponsors are going to
stand, in future, for individual riders 'having their own doctors and
trainers'. Teams that want sponsorship money are going to have to be a
lot more disciplined in future, and are going to have to be able to
prove - to their sponsors satisfaction, anyway - that there's no way for
doping to happen.

I would not have liked to be Bjarne talking to CSC-the-company's
marketing director this morning. I imagine that was not a very
comfortable conversation.

Oooops!! The Cut n' paste of the updated rosters didnot reflect the
"strike-throughs" of the names of the banned. The link will show that.
According to VeloNews, only 4 teams were affected by banned riders. The
rest of the teams will apparently be riding at full strength. However,
the site only lists the names of 8 riders for Phonak
