  1. While running 21 miles during marathon training (1st marathon) this past weekend, I injured my
ankle. I think it happened during the last 2-3 miles around the 4 hour mark. I did not twist or fall
on the side of the ankle. It must be related to repetitive movement. I've run 18 before and never
    experienced this pain.

There is no swelling. The pain is on the outer ankle from the lower side up to the ankle bone. It is
a mild pain when walking. The pain is more pronouced when walking down stairs. It is not so painful
to keep me from sleeping, but it is enough to make me walk with a slight
    limp.

Anyone have any experience with similar pain/injury when training? Any thoughts on healing and
keeping my taper training intact.? My marathon is 4 weeks away.

    Thanks

  2. yeah....i have john. sounds to me like a standard run of the mill "pain" you get when you
excessively strain/stress your body. no swelling is a good sign, no instant "snap" but a gradual
build as you near'ed 21 miles?....standard, almost expected, pain.

come'on....all of us develop pains, extreme pains, especially around our ankles/feet, etc... now and
then on certain runs that leave us completely perplexed and scratching our head. it happens. it's
part of being a runner. oh i think it's something...but nothing that some rest won't heal.

    Andrew...
