I'm a writer, and sometimes come up with ideas for stories from the
weirdest places. One idea I had today was this sci-fi story about a time
traveling adventurer who is being chased by "time cops"; they follow him
all over the place, but can't figure out why he's poppping into the
times he is.
In the end, it turns out he's tracking down all of his favorite food
moments. That absolutely fabulous ice cream sundae from his childhood,
that special meal with his first love, that special hot dog from the
World Series game he visited with his dad, etc.
So... My question is: If you could travel to any point in time, when
would you go, and what would the food be that you'd go back for?
For me, there are a lot of options:
Late 60's: Space food sticks
Late 60's/early 70's: Breakfast bars (Carnation, I think)
Mid 70's: Laurel and Hardy sub sandwiches (Northern Nevada/Utah)
Mid 70's: Artic Circle hamburgers (Norther Nevada and Utah), with
"special fry sauce"
Late 80's/Early 90's: Coney Island Hot Dogs, Worchester, MA
Late 80's: mussels in Maine
Late 80's: Cheap lobster in MA and Maine
Late 80's: tons of sushi with friends in MA
2005: Las Vegas, Hard Rock Cafe, Kobe Beef at Nobu
Late 60's/Early 70's: Grandma's Fried Chicken, chicken and noodles, and
beef and noodles.
Anyone else?
