  1. Hey guys, I have to put together a "two week before the event" training regimen for cycling for a physiology class. Let's say that I'm training for a century ride. I'll need to figure out the type, frequency, and duration of training and recovery on a daily basis, as well as an accompanying nutrition plan that I would follow two weeks prior to the big day. If you have any links or information that would be beneficial, or if you have any preset routines that would work, post them here, please. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  2. See the thread "training for a century ride" in this section. Oh, and it takes more than 2 weeks to be able to ride 100mi/160km. lol 😄

  3. Thanks, I will check the century thread. Ok, I know that it takes more than two weeks to train for any event. However, I'm just focusing on the two weeks prior to the "event" for now for the purpose of this paper. Any other resources will be appreciated. Thanks again.

At the bottom of this page is a suggested training mileage log for the STP (Seattle to Portland ride) it is 2 a day 100 miles each or 1 day of 200 miles event, but it may give you a place to start.

JIC you didn't find it...it also has a link in there to another thread....

  6. This is for an assignment? I would suggest doing some research in Friel, Bompa, and Jeukendrup for the nutrition strategy. Perhaps Ackland has an interesting schedule for the final taper before event day.

We're not going to do your homework for you.

  7. Thanks for the help guys. As far as "doing my homework for me," she all but told us to copy and paste the first thing that we find. Sadly, this assignment is nothing more than end of the year busy work that she can use in place of a final. She doesn't care, and that's sad; I took her class to learn something. Anyway, I do care about cycling and hope to ride a century one day, so I thought that I could at least learn something through this assignment. Thanks again.

Not when you've got your mp3 player loaded with Slayer, and your pockets full of hoagies. You will rock it all day!
