The Weather Channel gave the winds as 24 km/h East. I think they were being optimistic. I like to go East as it's more or less uphill on the outbound leg. No big surprise.
But those _freakin_ winds! I'm wondering if I'll have a windburn tomorrow. Of course the inbound trip was nice: tailwinds - if partially cross winds at times - and a general downhill slope.

Good day.
Headwinds are great -- you get a longer ride for the same distance. :-)

Tailwinds are like cotton candy.
Last week, we got 53 mph winds. Those of us riding home bucked that headwind all the way. When it would gust to that speed, you just stepped off your "No longer going foreward" bike and waited for it to slow down a bit.

Last weekend I rode an extra 4 miles in a headwind just to get to end the ride in a tailwind. Average speed into the wind: 8mph. Average after the tailwind: 14mph. The wind became relatively calm at 23mph.
