  1. Well, Dutch turned up to the start, with all the rain behind him, and
complained about it being too wet (that particular patch of rain
lasted a lot longer than the radar indicated), so went back home. The
rest of us continued on, and of course it had basically stopped
raining. A bit cool, but the sun came out just in time for Ess not to
woose out of Clintons Rd 🙂

Ritcho decends like a deamon, especially around corners. I was taking
corners in the wet slowly 🙂 But I was pedalling flat out just to hold
onto the back of his wheel, while he was coasting.

Ritcho -- where you turn off, that road joins back up with where we
end up going. Turn off with Ess -- he goes to the same place as you,
    basically.

Watching Paris Roubaix -- ouch. Got in just in time to see the crash.
Phil Liggett misprounced "That's not very pro" as "That was a very
amateur mistake". Lama needs to teach him how to speak 🙂

  2. Yers, after turning back home, realising it was getting rather dry (and sunny!!!) i changed socks (HATE wet socks) and headed out again, this time joining the 'lowlanders' on Beach Rd for a cruise to Frankston and Back.
Stayed by myself or in little groups (or atht efront of them!).
Big groups and wet roads I does not like. Huge diff in Ave HR today 🙄
Probably should do that more often 🙄 🙄

Ooh it's raining - ooh I'm going home... Oh well, it rained for about 15 minutes at the start. This was sufficient to leave everything wet and all my gear got wet, whilst I just got cold. Maybe FD had the right idea. Nevertheless, it was nice scenery after the rain went away. Banana and choc-chip muffins taste soooo good. mmmm muffins.

I have big bones so I go downhills fast... unfortunately the gains are more than offset when the road turns upwards.

As for going home, I'm still trying to figure out the minimum effort route. Today I stuffed up and tried the Yarra trail from Banksia St. Gravel track and a bit indirect. I don't mind the Greensboghorror bypass as it doesn't drop down too far into the valley, but I'll try the other way next time.

    Mmmm muffins.

    Ritch

PS. There is some bollox story about happiness on TV right now... someone should suggest they just get on a bike and go for a ride.

"The crash"? One of many! I dunno how I picked the broken handlebars
before Phil -- are they watching a different stream (why else would
you take your hands off the bars on cobblestones?)?

In the quotes file I found today:

"What's wrong with wearing a wet chammy?", Brian, 8 hours into a wet
    chammy day

"I've never felt so warmed up for a race in my life" Brian extolling
the benefits of a Lance-delivered, Mat-designed ITT warmup. And he
never felt so good as afterwards when he changed out of his chammy
    immediately following the race.

Only when you are trying to keep your HR below 160. "Oooh, I might be
    getting sick. Woe is me!"

I'm trying to work out how to justify going to that Hurstbridge bakery
we discovered last week. We need the panton hill stop for refueling
after 1 hour riding, but then how to justify Hurstbridge. Does "yummy
    muffins/apple crumble" cut the mustard?

"I've read that I flew up the hills and mountains of France. But you
don't fly up a hill. You struggle slowly and painfully up a hill, and
maybe, if you work very hard, you get to the top ahead of everybody
    else." -- Lance Armstrong

sounds like seditious talk driven by your mbtc*-driven stomach 😄

PS hindsight being a wonderful thing, cant figure out why George didnt at least try and get his friggin feet unclipped before doing his 'no-hand' routine, altho almost nothing else was gonna help him in that position...

That crash sent a shiver down my spine reliving memories of when my
headstem came "undone". I reckon George's failure to unclip was
something similar to me, all I was thinking was "oh sh!t, this isn't the
way a bike is supposed to work, this is gonna hurt"

I bet yours hurt less than cobblestones!

I like how Phil had to clarify that granite doesn't budge 🙂

Hmm, two fractured wrists and one fractured elbow and a long walk home.
How did George come out of it?

He just cried and got a blanket and a lift home
    (and a new bike afterwards 🙄 )
