Quoted message said:Hurricane party anyone?! It looks like by Thursday evening what's left of the eye of the storm
will be passing over Richmond, Va. The ground here is totally saturated, the trees should be easy
to uproot and there is nowhere for the water to go from 5-7 inches of rain. By Friday it should be
messing up Bill Wheelers part of the world. I pray all in it's path are kept safe and the loss of
homes is minimal. I don't want to think of what our trails are going to look like but that's way
down the list of concerns. (But added to keep OT) The one good thing is Isabel is a fast mover
which will limit our exposure to the storm.

Can't say I'm missing life in VA right now (actually, I haven't missed life in VA since the day I
moved ...)
My parents are in Swansboro, NC, right by the bridge to Emerald Isle. They were scheduled to drive
up to Dulles and fly to Germany tomorrow, but instead they've postponed by a week. They tell me
they're not evacuating; I can't say whether that's an okay plan or not, but mom insists that the
local VFW is only 5 minutes away and has a shelter they can use if things get bad.
My brother's in VA; he actually works for/with NOAA, but I haven't heard from him directly about the
whole deal.
