  1. ...so I did a new incarnation of the FAQ. I shall name this one Beta .2a:
    j-harris.netambfaq.htm

It's even sillier and more irreverent than the previous incarnations, but at least the font works,
it's complete and the html is ok (I think).

It's a just a minor inkling, but I think section 3.14 might need a bit of work.

Feel free to recommend other additions and / or corrections.

How about adding this link somewhere near the beginning:

    groups.google.comgroups

    SDC

OK, I just finished with a particulary annoying snowboard pants rebuild and I need a break.

    change:

intention of "getting rid of as many simple questions from the newsgroup to read: getting rid of as
    many clueless newbies...."

    I love your sense of humor, it's very amb-ish. Don't change a thing. What about a " I asked a
question and everyone was mean to me" for the newbie section... ( thinking of the CD incident)

1.2.1 need a comman after "don't top post" and then was spelling "spell checker" spill chequer
    intenetional?

2.4 add the mtb dictionary link?

    3.5 unco-ordinated? (spelling) (is that euro-speak)

4.2 Don't forget the new $149 disc offering...

5.6 helmet... how about " if you have to ask..." instead of "next"

"1.4.7 - 'The Bomberhood' - an exclusive club open only to owners of Marzocchi forks. New entrants
are sent an introductory gift from Carla, consisting of brandy and cigars. The rumours of multiple
owners getting a free hand job has so far proved groundless."

Very nice. Yes 3.14 isn't the most helpful section, but I have nothing to add. I would have
preferred to differentiate cro-moly from steel, but the downside is having to figure out how to
    spell molybdium (sp?).

Just a question - the bit about aluminium being more harsh - is this still true? I remember riding
an aluminium Trek of some sort in 1995 and harsh was an understatement. I've ridden a few rental
aluminium bike lately and they don't seem bad at all. Has this changed? I don't have an AL bike
myself, so I'm not quite sure.

Well, brandy and cognac are very similar, but seeing as you're offering a higher class of spirit,
I'll gladly upgrade the FAQ 🙂

Cool, thanks. The idea was to mirror the humour and information that exists in the group.

    Don't change a thing. What

Good call. I knew there were some things that people had suggested that I had forgotten.

Well, I'm disappointed that there's no section named after me. But then again I'm relived there
isn't one that just says Rat [censored].

I notice the clipless FAQ now displays the right url (mtb) but links to the wrong one (MTB) ...

Other than that, I absolutely love your response to the log question. I wouldn't mind a more
    mountain bike-specific answer, though ...

    Good work! Looks nice!

Nice work, care to document some of my code with all your free time? I don't think you can emphasis
"grow a thicker skin" in section 1.5 enough, or at least wait till you shave to post here.

You forgot to add the shortcut to the link in this section.
4.2 - My gears don't shift properly. Wah! Gears have to be adjusted from time to time, and
especially after the bike is new, as the cables stretch. You can get the bike shop to fix this,
but it's better to learn yourself. Check out: sheldonbrown.comderailer adjustment.html

    Molybdenum, I think.

I didn't want to write an entire article on it. Especially when you start getting in to different
types of cro-mo and tubesets. I'll have a look at rewording it.

Alu still gives a harsher ride than cro-mo, although as you point out, it's nowhere near as bad as
10 years ago. Some frames are still renowned for their stiffness, eg, Pace RC300.

Oh, I was just thinking of clarifying that "steel" in Wal-mart isn't the same steel as "steel" in an
    LBS. That's all.

Still think the sentence is ambiguous ... it could just as easily be read "Don't top post and don't
learn to quote properly." Personally, I'd go for "Don't top post. Learn to quote properly."

I love the ladies section.. but why not expand it:

We respect the women here, after all they aren't afraid to eat some dirt every now and then, and ???
( wear lycra in public?) If one of the lovely ladies tells it like it and you don't like it, resist
the urge to call them "b***h or c**t. Everyone will laugh at you with the understanding that you
don't have the balls to take the truth from a female.

hmm. Maybe that's both a little harsh and too self aggrandizing.. (?) or maybe I should
    just <gdr...>?

    Nevermind. Next?
