Martin, I once again can not agree with you here. There are people out there that gain muscle very
easy. I know....I am one of them. Swimming has already made some slight changes in my body in a
few months mostly in shoulders, back and chest. Sure it would be faster to change your body by
lifting weights, but I prefer to swim for the style of workout. I have lifted enough and want a
change. As for muscle gain in general your answer would be very wrong. Let say you did get up to
6000 meters a day for 6 days a week. Once you have reached doing that and your body gets used to
it, the gains will be very little if at all from then on.
I should have explained that once you get used to doing 6k 6 days a week, you do it faster. Swimmers
who have the swimmer's build didn't just get used to doing a distance, they kept doing it faster.
Look, the guy doesn't have swimmer's build, and he is an adult. Every swimmer I know, all of them
without exception, who has the swimmers build, got by being in heavy training for competitive
swimming for at least ten years. If you, starting from a completely non-swimmer's build can develop
the build of an elite swimmer by swimming, and you can do it in less than ten years, knock yourself
out. You will be the one guy of all the swimmers I know who did it.
Quoted message said:You body gains muscle or changes when you make it work harder, hence it will grow to adjust to
what you are throwing at it. It is a very simple concept. I know people on here would get tired of
the question....how do I get a swimmers body. Lets face it, real swimmers have awesome bodies. If
you really want one, I suggest you swim and lift. This will get you there as long as you are not
fat. It you are fat, then you will need to do something about that. Running will take the weight
off faster than swimming in my experience and some sort of diet plan.
The bottom line is people can get the swimmers build. The problem is it is very hard work to get
it. Combining lifting, cardio and swimming is my plan to do it and I know my body well enough to
know it will work. I have been training on and off for many years. You need to know your body and
the first step to know it is to work it. I will say I am just looking to cut up. I have enough
muscle under the layer of fat I am carrying.
Martin, I like your updates on your Atkins journey. I am looking to lose 5-10 pound over the next
few months and will use the Atkins approach. It is hard to lose that last bit of weight it seems.
It is, and you will lose 5-10 lbs quickly on Atkins, but it will be all water at first, so you have
to actually lose more than that to lock in the actual weight loss. But with a good exercise schedule
you shouldn't have any problem losing that weight. I say be careful, though. This approach to losing
weight is powerful, and you can get into trouble if you don't pay attention.
