again?

Why the poster RRzVRR posts the same "FAQ" message again and again and
again?Because if she doesn't post them that often, people ALWAYS end up
asking "where's the FAQ?".She's been doing it this way for many years now.

Because we all asked him to do it. This is a convenient help to all of
us "seniors" on this newsgroup as well as all of the daily newcomers.
It's a quick, easily-found source of the basic information about low
carb. It was the general feeling of the people on this newsgroup that
the FAQ should be posted frequently so it could be easily and quickly
found and used by everyone. For myself, it works just as it should. If I
want to look for the best basic sites for a number of topics, I can find
the FAQ with no trouble at all and go to a site I need. And I do use
it frequently. Many of us consider this service a blessing and one of
the best things about this newsgroup.Barbara

Why the poster RRzVRR posts the same "FAQ" message again and again and
again?FAQ is an acronym for Frquently Asked Questions. Some think
of FAQ files as the distilled wisdom of the regulars of any group
the FAQ file is written for. Some FAQs are poor, some excellent,
all are far better than reading a year's worth of postings. A TON
of effort and practical experience goes into writing any FAQ file.So the answer to your question is: By request, so those quesions
aren't all asked very week by newbies. Read it and learn. It's
one of the best resources you'll ever find on the topic. -

carbs, up the exercise, make sure you're getting enough protein and
green stuff, watch your weight, body fat, labs and BP, take a multi vit
daily and there you go. The only difficulty is having the will and
self-discipline to keep at it, and no amount of additional info will
help there! -

truly believe that no additional information can help improve self
discipline, then you must discount all psychotherapy, psychological
counselling, self improvement books and courses, and peer examples.Anyone can improve their self discipline with guidance and support.

newsgroup, I feel it contains more useful information than any of the
official books on the topic, all of which are much longer.I re-read the FAQ every year or so... the whole thing and all the
links. I find doing so useful to me both from an informational
viewpoint... and from a motivational viewpoint.I wish every newbie claiming to be interested in low-carb would read
it. That would increase the signal:noise ratio around here
considerably. -

A few years ago I had the opportunity to observe the workings of an
alcohol rehab center. After the patients were dried out they were
absolutely bombarded with information, lectures and leaflets,
counselling and support groups, AA meetings, the lot. Before discharge
they were hooked up with their local AA group and their friends and
relatives, assuming any of them were still around, were pointed towards
Al-Anon. For all this, the recidivism rate was around 90% and when I
asked the doctors why they theorised that it was because most people
were there not of their own volition but rather because they had been
coerced or forced by friends, relatives, employers or the courts and
consequently had not internalised the decision to reform.
My personal experience with over-eating has been similar. I yo-yoed
off and on for a nuber of years, with the downs always being exceeded
by the subsequent ups. Then almost four years ago there were some
changes in my life resulting in a firm resolve to cure my weight
problem. So I did some research, including reading Eades and Atkins,
decided that low-carb made sense and got on with it. I reached goal
weight towards the end of 2002 and haven't varied by more that 5 lbs
since.
I had the same experience with smoking - I was three pack a day for
years, knowing perfectly well the health dangers, but in 1983 I decided
to give up and I haven't had a cigaret since.
Probably there's no method that works for everyone but my view is that
the person who has fully committed will generally succeed without much
support or the need for tons of information beyond the basics, which
are fairly simple, and the person who is half hearted will quite likely
fail no matter what.
YMMV of course! -

want less. You state that you read both DANDR and PP. Two
books is far more content volume than the FAQ file.So the FAQ isn't for you. Okay. Doesn't make it a bad idea for
everyone. At least now you now why it's posted regularly. As the traffic on ASDLC tapers down, maybe it should be posted
weekly not daily? -

Not always or we wouldn't be in Iraq. Lots of power, not enough
knowledge! -

See, you need knowledge to get power. Not the other way around (generally).
Maybe I should have written: Knowledge ==> Power.

90 Plus Percent will not lose much and will gain it all back, often with
more. And how many dieters are dieting mostly because of external pressures
rather than internal desires? If you have wonderful and great willpower, you might not have become
overweight in the first place.--
1) Eat Till SATISFIED, Not STUFFED... Atkins repeated 9 times in the book
2) Exercise: It's Non-Negotiable..... Chapter 22 title, Atkins book
3) Don't Diet Without Supplemental Nutrients... Chapter 23 title, Atkins
book
4) A sensible eating plan, and follow it. (Atkins, Self Made or Other) -
