Being in real estate, my opportunity to ride on the weekends is slim. My buddy and I decided to do an early morning ride at the local (Aliso/Wood Canyons). As you may have heard, SoCal is in the midst of very cold (for SoCal) snap. Not being one to venture out of state to ride during the winter, I quickly found that I was ill equipped for cold temperatures. When I parked at the trail head the temperture was 36 degrees (the sun had not yet risen) and all I had to protect me aginst this were my Fox Digit full finger gloves and a Fox windbreaker. We had to stop a couple time just to put our hands under our armpits to prevent frostbite. Yes I do know that 36 degrees can hardly be classified as cold by most of you and I SHOULD have layered. It was damn cold.
Having just an hour to do a ride, we didn't ride very far. Started on the back side (corner of Alicia and Aliso Creek) to Cholla, down Rock-It and across on Coyote. The trails are in great shape. My knee (which I sprained 3 weeks ago on the SJT) held up nicely even though I was not supposed to ride for another 3 weeks. It is a bit achy now, but well worth the effort to be the first one on the trails and watching the sun come up. All in all, a great way to start a Sunday.

Sorry, no notepads. I did that once, thought it was a bit [censored]-ish. I do fine without having to resort to gimicky marketing. However, if you buy a house with me I'll give you a very generous gift certificate to The Path or other LBS of your choice. I'd rather give my customers something they really appreciate rather than something that will end up at the bottom of their junk drawer. I will be more than happy to buy you a beer with no strings attached.

I know, I know. I was actually a bit embarrased to complain about it considering all you fine folks that reside in places that see a considerable amount of snow fall and still ride. It just doesn't happen here too often, hence the lack of appropriate gear.

Yesterday morning we were at -36, but I didn't ride (except my townie to work - that hurt). It did eventually warm up a bit and we ended up with a high of 1.

Nice. That showed real appreciation. Depending on the sales price my "Thank you" gifts range from $100 to $500. That would go along way at an LBS.
Even if she did the needlepoint herself (I don't know) it wasn't really a good fit for us. We're not religious (in the classic sense) and I hate all that kitschy country [censored] people clutter their houses with. It wasn't just because of that, but our next transaction was done without a Realtor, which was a nice way to save several grand (no offense to the Realtors out there, but I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth).
