  1. Made regular waffles for the gang, and vegan ones for me. No recipes,
just threw stuff in, but theirs came out with a lovely popover texture
that they raved about, and mine are way yummy, with walnuts in. Happy
    tummy.

I already posted my breakfast this morning -- but I'm thinking ahead --
perhaps this week - almost everyday is already planned.

    I got a brand-spankin'-new waffle maker sitting in a box awaiting a
    breakfast waffle tomorrow.

I'd been looking at waffle makers. It was too confusing to try to buy the
best for the money. I saw this one at BJ's for $49.99, and I had a coupon
for $10, so -- Well, we'll see. The ratings on line are mixed, but so are
    the one's costing $99.99.

My experience with waffles have not been good, but they have always been on
the thin waffle makers. Hopefully this will be better. But, I need a
    FOOL-proof recipe, plain!

What is a vegan waffle -- made with soy milk? no butter? did it have
    yeast? did it have egg?
I do like yeast waffles best.

Well, I cooked a pair of trotters last night around 10pm and ate them
for dinner, then went to bed.

I heated up some of the pork stock this morning with soy sauce, and
    added Shirataki. ;-d

I have some catfish, tilapia and shrimp thawed out that I will make for
dinner tonight along with steamed brocolli, cauliflower and carrots.
Probably add butter and fresh ginger to those.

This one has been working REALLY well for me. It's unsweetened, that's

Flour, water, agave syrup, baking powder, oats, walnuts. Very very

With that much butter in the batter, only the suicidal need spread more on
the top. :-) Actually, syrup or jam is all you need. Also, that much
butter in the batter yields a nice crispy exterior, but very tender
    interior.

I can make nice loaves of bread from my kitchenaid mixer, kitchenaid food
processor, and by hand, if I'm forced, AND in a bread machine. They are all
    REAL bread.
One thing good about a bread machine is that you can get really creative in
what you throw in them and not worry about the stickiness and mess you
create, whether the temperature is correct, you can knead it as long as you
want, and on - and- on. If it fails, 99% of the time it doesn't, what have
you lost. If you like vegan food and nuts, and seeds and dried fruits and
spices and like to experiment with various types of flour and those types of
bread are your forte, do it! Believe me, it is real bread, as real as any.

What did you have for breakfast today?

I was up at 7:15 for my riding lesson, so I had a bowl of oatmeal
porridge. After I got home from riding I had a poached egg, some bacon
    and fresh made muffins.

  16. I too have a Waring Belgian wafflemaker. Well....actually, Geniece
does, I got it for her for Christmas. But I use it too.

The rotating wafflemaker seems like a gimmick, but it's a real feature
IMHO. With the old-style wafflemaker, the batter had to rise enough to
fill the upper grid, and become crisp therein. When the rotating
wafflemaker is rotated, the remaining liquid batter drops into the
upper (now lower) grid and fills it pretty well. Any gaps or holes are
inside the waffle----where they contribute to fluffiness!

    Best -- Terry

Were these yeast leavened, or risen with baking powder?

If the latter, you might want to try the yeast version. They

Kenneth, when I get my feet wet with my new waffle maker, I hope I can call
on you for suggestions if I can't get a Yeast version going. Hopefully it
will not be as perplexing as your new crepe maker.
DH used to work around big, big machinery and when something didn't work,
they were able to call in a representative of the company. It's too bad
you/we/all of us can't avail ourselves of this service.
I hope you have a warranty of sorts so that you can return.
