Nice logic there Jeff:

X's parents get divorced -> X goes on a killing spree.

Think about it also for one second. How many school shootings are there each year? Now, how many
children have divorced parents? You do the math.

- Boyd S knows plenty of former latch key kids with divorced parents who are now pefectly
adjusted, normal adults.

Many of whom seem to manage to have successful relationships/marriages, too.

7. I believe the parents of the Columbine kids were married. If you are getting information from that
wacko Michael Moore, get another source.

If you want a real connection check out the medications the kids are on. There have been reports
that a lot fo the kids who go on shooting sprees are on Ritalin or other psychoactive drugs.
Drugging kids is a real problem in the US. Get a bored kid in school who acts out and the
teachers want to sedate them (Ritalin) so they will behave; this is easier that finding ways to
challenge kids.

When I was young, I was bored in school and acted out a lot. Thankfully the medications were not
around and a teacher who had taught one of my siblings got me tested. Found out I was reading about
4 grade levels up and math skills were about the same. I was put into other classes with "gifted"
kids and flourished--no more behavior problems since I was being challenged.

Now y'all can start arguing about how it will affect the 2004 Tour.

My opinion, which is worth far less than €0.02: I think it could actually help Lance by
taking some of the stress off him.

cheers, Jeff

Being that he didn't have much of a positive paternal influence, one wonders how it may affect his
future relationship with his kids. Since Armstrong has a reputation for being less than tolerant
to riders he doesn't like, his comment that "Neither of us wants to get in the situation where
when we drop off the kids, we can't look at each other." is an interesting one.

"We're truly committed to maintaining a good relationship, but not a marriage."? Why should he
take that commitment any more seriously than his wedding vows?

Divorce tends to run in families, so to speak. I rather wondered a couple years ago whether he and
Kik would stay together very long.

The other interesting comment, by her, was in reference to his celebrity. Which could mean many
things, particularly that she prefers to keep out of the public eye, while he can't. Then there's
the groupies...

First off let me go on a rant. I hate how people post on message boards with out doing even a simple
validity check. Even as someone who has written research papers on Ritalin I double checked my
statements before writing what will follow. 30 seconds with you friend google will stop you from
looking like a jackass. Both this poster and the poster who replied were wrong and could have
figured this out with the aforementioned 30 seconds of research.

Ritalin is a stimulant (not a sedative). It is also a psychoactive. These two statements combine to
support Sam thesis. However he does little to back it up Ritalin being an amphetamine-like substance
(Note: some of the newer ADHD meds are actually amphetamines) has many of the same common side
effects as other amphetamines, such as insomnia, nervernous, blood pressure and pulse changes.
Obviously more rare but well documented Ritalin has also been known to cause Paranioa and Psycotic
episodes, not shokingly, just like amphetamines. Further here are some other little factiods:

-Ritalin helps everyone focus ADHD or not. -Cocaine works well for this too. In fact lots of ADHD
adults use it to "self medicate" -While there are short term benifits to Ritalin use, i.e. teachers
report the kids are less anoying. Long term benefits are debatbly pretty much nil as Ritalin doesn't
treat the actual symtoms of ADHD that make success dificult (disorginization, a reluctance to
complete tasks, depression etc.) for ADHD kids, it simply makes a quieter more managable failure.
-Ritalin being an a fairly potent stimulant with decent sized "time released" doasages, essentially
gives ADHD kids a a free "party" in a bottle if they can beat the time release mechanism (simply
being grinding it up and snorting it).
- There are some reports that long term ritalin use actually might change the experession of the
gene c-fos. Which could actually make symptoms worse.

I guess that should be enough...

16. I might point out that the kids who committed the worst high school massacre in American history
(Columbine High School in Jefferson County, Colorado) both came from families in which their parents
are still married. If the original poster is saying that divorce causes these things, what does it
say when it's the kids in "Unbroken" homes who commit the crimes? (tongue planted firmly in cheek
