Well, there's been a little problem with my new singlespeed, a problem with the frame. The bike cannot be ridden until the problem is corrected. I don't know how long it will take to get fixed, but I'll be waiting for the bike a little while longer now... :-(

Sorry to hear that. Like getting to 9 mos, then having the doctor say you've gotta carry the baby for a few more!

The whole story will come when the problem is fixed...

I'll venture a guess: they put the front tire on backwards?
/s
No, they welded the rear triangle onto the front of the bike :-)

Oh, that's not so bad. I thought maybe they accidentally made it out of titanium or something. /s

Nope, steel is real.
Real heavy.
Not really. Maybe you're confusing cheap steel jobs with their nicer brethren. A decent steel frame will be a similar weight to alu with a nicer ride.
Narrower tubes too.
My steely (Reynolds 501) is fairly light, as old MTB's go, and it doesn't flex noticeably at all. Frame is a damned sight lighter than the Claude Butler 7000 series alu one I have for sure - that thing is a tank, and still flexes at the BB shell when mashing a big gear.
