much just at my home pool a couple times per week for some basic
exercise. I am am teenage male, and have only worn boardshorts or
actual swim "trunks" my entire life, which I am finally realizing make
it nearly impossible to kick for an extended amount of time because of
their length and bagginess.
I am looking for a suit - don't know what kind or type or brand - that
would still be fairly long in terms of covering at least some of my
upper leg, but that would allow me much for flexibility is kicking and
movement under water. Being at a sensitive age, I would like something
also that is not too revealing, hence I am not a big fan of the
brief-type Speedos, though something like a jammer sounds more
appealing.
Can you recommend a basic suit like this or something similar?
Also, my parents are used to me wearign baggy clothes, both in and out
of water, any ideas on how to explain to them my desire for something
more fit, and thus most likely more revealing?
Tell them you are growing up, and then grow up.
That is your typical answer from MS, or MWS.
As for my opinion.....
You have 2 choices.
1) pick a suit you like, and let your parents see you in it, and then let
them get used to it.
2) have them with you when you get it.
Each way your parents will react to it how they would react to other simular
things.
I was 15 when I got my first speedo. We were visting Florida during March.
We are from Canada, so no snow was great.
The suit I had been wearing the prvious summer was starting to get to tight.
At one of the shops, they had both types, board shorts and speedos. At the
time they did not have jammers. When my parents asked me which I wanted,
referring to the various board shorts, I asked, What about those?, an I
pointed to the rack with speedos.
Honestly, I though my parents would never say yes, but they did.
Your parents might be the same way, not realy worry about it.
Your parents may be shocked, and for bid you to wear anything like it.
Just go out and do it.
Jammers or speedos, your choice. You will be glad you gave up the shorts.
