Rec.skiing.alpine has a kook even more nuts than Kunich!
Still not as bad as Roger Bratton, though ...

Why is it that you seem unaware of the various spoofs that are out there? little boy Tom Kunich is presently being investigated by the FBI, SAN LEANDRO,CA police for his great work on the internet.
Tom, I am in awe of your ability to push this guy's buttons. Steve mentions him, nothing happens. One simple post from you and the guy goes kerbonkers all over the newsgroup again. It's like you have a remote control for the chip in his brain.
Thanks--I've seen flame wars in every ng I've ever participated, but I wasn't aware it had ever come to a judge's order. There are certifiable nuts in all the groups. What is interesting to me is the mix of groups in crosspostings. There was an antisemitic thread that went on for months a year or so ago that was crossposted to (among others) photography, dental, and woodworking (!) newsgroups, for no apparent reason.

Went over and took a look. Man you weren't kidding, that dude is a "little" unstable and paraoid the way a blue whale is a little large. Bill C

Since when do the nutcases need a reason other than spreading their message, whatever it is, to everyone out there. One of my other favorite NGs has just about been wrecked by it. First we finally got a break from a rightwing nutcase, and he was replaced by one from the left, and it seems like the only thing they have in common is way too much time to post [censored] and figure ways to beat filters so everyone sees some of it. That guy over on rec.skiing is just blowing off the court order so hopefully the it gets back to the judge for contempt at least. Moderation sucks, but so do nutcases. Bill C

The court order was only in effect for 1 year ... and was apparently placed back in 1999.
During that time, he allegedly posted under another pseudonym, in violation of the court order, but he won't admit it.

I guess the only really workable wolution is to try and ignore them since it really seems that all they want is attention, and it doesn't matter what kind. Must be a pretty sorry life when they need the attention of [censored] people on the internet and work so hard to get it. I wish they'd just donate themselves to science, where they'd actually do society some good, and walk in front of a bus, but no such luck. Bill C

I think there is relatively little need for people to donate themselves to science by walking in front of a bus (for one thing it just slows the bus down and irritates all the passengers). But it could be I am out of touch with the cutting edge research in whatever field it is that studies people walking in front of buses.

Well, at least it saves the scientists time, 'cause the police do all the diagrams and chalk marks.

I suppose instead of the bus bit they could volunteer to be live crash test dummies. That might make more sense as it wouldn't inconvenience anyone. Wonder if they might be planning to bring back the Pinto? I'd love to see that tested with live dummies. Bill C

Rollover tests using fully loaded Excursions might give you more bang per buck, so to speak.
They were going to make a hybrid Pinto and call it a Mule.

Yeah. The scientists would draw the collision as a Feynman diagram, time- reverse it, and the guy would still be walking around.

Hey, let's get this back on topic AND make the best use of them: HELMET TESTING!
That's right, no more anecdotal [censored] or uncontrolled statistics, we can use 'em for real experiments.

The `sane' people continue to take the bait. What would it take to clean up usenet, hmmm? Then, again, for many the whole point is mud wrestling. Chaqu'un á son gout.

Well, you know what it's like. Supposedly the cops talked to him and he knows that there were about a dozen of us that filed charges against him. They don't want to press it unless they absolutely have to and after talking to a judge here I decided that it was hardly worth my while to put him away. Those involved pretty much decided that we'd simply wait for him to go too far. He's been trying to find ways to spoof the internet but now every posting is recorded with it's routing information on many servers. Sooner or later his trying to spoof other people's accounts will bear a fruit that he doesn't intend.
Now that I've watched him for awhile I find him more pitiful than anything else. Imagine - he has nothing better to do than to wage an endless war on the internet against people who, unlike him, have a life. When you think about it, it's sort of like watching an insane person slowly disintegrating before your very eyes.
I figure that we'll see him in the newspapers locally when he performs a particularly nasty suicide.
