My diet (see my recent topic) has eliminated my long-time use of corn grits
for breakfast due to its hi-carbs,
however I'm wondering how a serving of just 1 tbsp grits + 2 tbsp corn bran
would taste..
Note corn bran neatly solves problem of getting enuf fiber in a hi-fiber
diet as its 99% fiber and seems to be
well-regarded by the "South Beach" "Atkins" diet gurus,
but why is this food's calories countable if its all dietary fiber?
Have a look at below link's nutrition info for "corn bran crude"
http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/browse/2000.html
After a lengthy search, I have found and ordered corn bran from
www.honeyville.grain.com
($5 for 5 lbs + $5 ship)
and will report back its taste for various ratio with corn grits.
Hopefully I can substitute it for current wheat bran (Fiber One) in my 1000
calorie diet,
and restore my beloved "grits for breakfast"
..
