Just seen waterscape.com, which is British Waterways online resource for walkers, cyclists and boaters. Although you might think it's limited to navigable waterways and their immediate locality it actually includes a rather fast response scrolling and zoomable UK map down to 1:50K OS Landranger base, much quicker jumping about than multimap or streetmap (though without the same search facilities)

Very quick, and goes down to indivisual building detail (better than 1:50K), or at least it does by MiL who backs onto the K&A. (Spend christmas on a narrowboat, it was the guest accommodation at the end of the garden ;-))

Ah yes, just zoomed down to our house, though first time I went past Landranger it was pointed somewhere very remote where I lost detail so I had it filed under "pointless", which is not the universal case.
One for the bookmarks, certainly.

Pete.
Good call PC.
[Sorry about this next bit. H-content follows]
No H mention on the BW web site so this isn't a rant.
If you were unlucky enough to take a dive into the water would a h----t be a hindrance or a help.
Perhaps '"take a dive" isn't how most people go for an involuntary swim from the towpath - something less elegant (ahem - more amusing to the onlookers)?
-- PETER FOX Not the same since the submarine business went under [email hidden] www.eminent.demon.co.uk - Lots for cyclists
Brilliant. I run the bookings for a narrow-boat co-operative so I was keen to link to the mapping stuff. Unfortunately the email address for contact when you click on the "?" just bounces. Ho hum

Dunno. Wasn't wearing one

What is less amusing, is trying to unclip before you hit the water! BTDT
Oh, nice map site. Bit slow on dial up but worth bookmarking. -- Cheerful Pedalling John Mallard

Well, I think that's the first browser specific abortion of a website I've seen which /claimed/ to be XHTML 1.0. As Nelson said, 'I see no maps'. Ho hum, so much for open standards.

Isn't this just a rather slower way of getting into googlemaps?

On the link I have here it's quite a bit quicker than Google Maps, and rather easier to get what I'm looking for. That might not be what /you're/ looking for, but I can't see that one is a slower version of the other.
