  1. I have a huge dilema next week. On top of finals, the new kitten is not
feeling well. I want to do a small pork roast and a small pot roast
tomorrow but I'd like to make TV like dinners with the leftovers and freeze
them for next week. There will be nothing fancy. Just mashed, carrots and
maybe some grilled veggies. Has anyone ever done this or should I just buy
    them from the supermarket?

My mom used to make "TV dinners" all the time. It works great! If you've
already got the food and you need to get rid of it, why not make your own
    frozen meals?

    Michael,

Sounds like fun! Only where are you gonna find those TV-dinner tins? 😉

Frankly, if it were me and you're going to eat them next week, I
wouldn't even freeze them. put the leftovers on a plate, nuke them,
eat, and go back to studying. Or were you going to fix these for the
    cat?

Sure you can. I think Gladware (or similar) sells divided containers you
can use to freeze then nuke the meals. I know you can buy Rubbermaid
divided "plates" with lids for this type of storage; I have several of
those. Then you could just toss one in the fridge to thaw during the day
and nuke it in the evening.

I even have a huge supply of those Le' Menu(*) plates for just
    such occasions.

(*) "Le Menu" were the round-plated TV dinners from the early
80's. The plates are made from some early form of melamine and
    have lasted forever.

Michael, I freeze dinners all the time, in three-compartment
"Rubbermaid" dinner dishes for having on the days I don't feel like
cooking, or don't have the time. These particular dinner containers
have generous compartments, and if anything may need to be roasted
instead of "micro-ed" I wrap that one item in foil before setting into
the container to freeze. I've never mastered or enjoyed cooking only
single meals for myself, so I use these dinner containers to freeze
quite often, and without much flavor or consumption enjoyment loss at
    all.

As if TV dinners aren't bad enough, you want to make your own....!!!!

Maybe try fasting. It's good for your system, everyone can stand to lose
a little weight, and it's inexpensive.

Not everyone can stand to lose a little weight. And fasting is just plain
    stupid, IMO. YMMV.

Yeah, lots of people's mileage varies on this one. Few would recommend
fasting as a weight loss technique. But there are a number of other
reasons for fasting, and people of many cultures have been doing it for
millennia. It's pretty easy to gather info about fasting, not quite so
easy to separate the sensible from the not. Those who are interested
might google on "the master cleanse" and "yoga fasting" for some
diverse sources. "fasting and health" brings up some weird stuff....

I found these TV dinner like trays in the supermarket of all places,
complete with snap on lids. This is what prompted the idea.

Hmmm... I was actually thinking of feeding them to Steven as well. The cats
usually don't eat human food although Ramsey went ape-[censored] over the Tilapia
the other night. You've just given me a wild idea. Kitty Kat TV dinners
    😉

Well, the pork roast is in the oven and when it's finished, in goes the
chuck roast. Everyone's ideas are great and they are ideas I use all the
time. I was kinda' looking for plain old TV dinners, like the frozen ones
you can buy. As Barb pointed out, I can just leave the goodies in the
fridge all week. However, I'm leaving Saturday and that'll leave the S.O.
    defenseless 😉

Years ago in my youth I would fast to purge the impurities from my system.
When the fast was over I'd gorge and then go right out for a beer. Go

I didn't get that comment at all. Even if you did want to lose weight,
during finals is not the time to be fasting. Besides, you didn't say
    anything
but can you make tv style dinners, not asking for diet help. Strange.
