How's the radar?

Yep, that red patch, 5km wide, was over my head the entire trip home
from the goat.
I was crossing that blasted Bridge Road bridge over the Yarra, and I
saw in my trusty rear view, as I took the right hand lane to veer
right, cars behind me. I, as they say, signalled early, and signalled
often. Try balancing that with keeping both hands firmly on the
handlebars, given the icky Y-junction in the tram tracks, and my firm
belief that hands never come off handlebars, near tram tracks,
especially in the wet -- I have once before very nearly made a mess of
myself under a 4WD when I got caught in wet tram tracks, with both
hands on the bars -- caught myself intime, in all cases previous.
So anyways, make it across 3 tracks safely, and take the 4th at an
acute, but not too acute angle (how the heck are you meant to cross a
Y-junction at 90 degrees?). And miss. Go sprawling across the road,
with cars narrowly missing ramming me from behind. Sit there, trying
to shake lose the pedal, and slowly get up (maybe 30 seconds in
total). Drunk girl at tram stop in hysterics, trying to get people to
call an ambulance (her sense of time must be off -- she thought I was
there for ages, although it /did/ take a long enough time for the guy
in car behind to get out and see whether I am OK). Thought I was a
motorbike (musta been the niteflux) hit by a car. Broke my S-Sun
light attached to my helmet (dammit, I like that light -- there is
nothing as bright on the market). And bruised ribs? Ow, everytime I
move my torso or breath slightly deeper.
And now sopping wet. I am listening to my shoes dripping infront of
the heater, and hoping that all my correspondence in my bag is not
soaked through. Rain can make for a fun commute, although you need to
be in the right frame of mind. Was damn cold once I stopped to do
some shopping, but as soon as I got moving again, ahhh, no need to
rush, I'm already as wet as I am going to get.
