Still no loss in either pounds or inches. I am holding steady so I
figure the best I can expect while I am on these particular anti-d's
is to not actually gain any more weight.

I'm pretty sure that were I to come off them the weight would just
fall away as fast as it came. It's a bit disheartening, but on the
other hand, the tablets make it possible for me to live a reasonable
    life.

You fight the battles that are possible. You're doing fine!

It is really too bad that there isn't an alternative med that will work
    for you.

Is there any chance you could experiment with sunshine and exercise?

There have been a number of reports in recent years on the
anti-depressive effects of sunshine (or bright light) and exercise.
Sunny side rooms of the hospital are associated with better and faster
relief of depressive symptoms than the rooms on the shady sides, for
    example.

The light therapy, if done with artificial light, requires pretty strong
lighting... technically 5,000 to 10,000 lux (a measure of incident
light), and the average room lighting is somewhere between 50 to maybe
    500 lux.

Sunlight is pretty bright.... you can take a very well lit room with the
blinds down, and when the blinds are opened, the "well lit" lighting is
completely overpowered by the sunlight streaming in the window.

Light therapy is "almost as bright as sunlight", not just "Hey, those
    are nice bright lights".

Thanks Nicky. I just need to hang in here for a little while longer.
Next year my doc is talking about changing medications so we shall
    see.

Well, we don't know that for sure as yet. I have had quite a few,
however there are one or two we haven't tried as yet although their
profile of weight gain is still a concern. My doc is thinking about
trying to change them next year so until then I will hold fast and
    keep on going.

I have indeed and I am lucky that I get plenty of sunshine every day
(live in Australia), and moderate exercise as I can't do very much due
    to a physical problem.

Unfortunately the depression is very imposing and of a genetic nature,
so I need the strong drugs to keep it at bay. I would love to go the
natural route and take the natural alternatives, however I have tried
this some time ago, and the outcome was less than positive. I am sure
there must be a better way of managing this problem - I just haven't
found it yet. 🙂 I keep researching and reading and remain hopeful
that one day it will be gone for good.
