Stuff I love about Susan Powter (in no particular order):
The scandal that she might not have ever actually been fat.
The way they call her low fat approach revolutionary when in fact, it
was the common wisdom of the last thirty or forty years, and probably
wrong to boot.
The spiky hair (lamentably replaced with very strange hair indeed)
The fact that her show features music by a womyn named Animal.
The angry militant lesbian feminism.
This one time when I watched her show and she was complaining about low
fat ham. It went something like this. The ham is low fat. Ham is pig.
Pig is the international symbol for fat. How can they make a low fat
pig?
The anger directed towards St. Louis stalwart and Hollywood resume
entry, Monsanto.
The liklihood that she ate a donut backstage at Fox News.
The black spandex pants of Classic 90's Powter.
Trailer park yoga!!! (If you don't find the concept of a 47 year old
lesbian mother of 3 doing yoga in her doublewide just to prove it can
be done amusing, you need to see a doctor about that)
Always better to have rabble rousers around, even if they rouse the
rabble in the wrong direction.
I deeply wonder if she would do an appearance for a bunch of guys. I
would bet that if the check clears, she probably would, and not do
something delightfully liberal activisty, like donate the proceeds to
some organization trying to make The Man obsolete.
I hope she doesn't get as ubiquitous as she was back in the day. Would
be a sad thing. If the Eades were better skilled personalities, I would
pay money to see a debate, but I fear they would be Fox'd out of their
opinion (shouted down on their own time and hushed during Susan's.)
Thanks for bringing Susan to the group, Cubit.
-Hollywood, ironic nihilist who greatly enjoys Susan Powter in a Tao
kind of way.
Cubit said:A recent spam for her website got me curious about her current status. SP
was the anti-fat voice of the 90's. At the time, I believed her, and I view
that as damage to my life.
Her website is back up from a crash. I find she says some things about
Atkins:
"And now... it's time..
Time to get back to work beyond the diaper pail...
Inspired by..atkins..and only atkins.
Yep, I looked up from the diaper pail and hear the word atkins."
I'm shocked by this. How profound that her view has apparently reversed 180
degrees. Atkins is not anti-fat.
I might also note that articles about her say that she is a rabid feminist,
who hates all men. Also, supposedly she was at one time a stripper
("topless dancer"😉. I guess selling herself could make a woman a hater of
men.
Maybe I'm unfair in my thoughts, but I have suspected that she used drugs to
maintain her weightloss. I'm not aware of any evidence; it is just a
guess. If true, it might help explain her hot personality.
I don't know how current her website photos are, but if they are new, she
looks damn good for 47.
