  1. A recent spam for her website got me curious about her current status. SP
was the anti-fat voice of the 90's. At the time, I believed her, and I view
that as damage to my life.

Her website is back up from a crash. I find she says some things about
    Atkins:

    "And now... it's time..
Time to get back to work beyond the diaper pail...

    Inspired by..atkins..and only atkins.

Yep, I looked up from the diaper pail and hear the word atkins."

I'm shocked by this. How profound that her view has apparently reversed 180
    degrees. Atkins is not anti-fat.

I might also note that articles about her say that she is a rabid feminist,
who hates all men. Also, supposedly she was at one time a stripper
("topless dancer"😉. I guess selling herself could make a woman a hater of
    men.

Maybe I'm unfair in my thoughts, but I have suspected that she used drugs to
maintain her weightloss. I'm not aware of any evidence; it is just a
guess. If true, it might help explain her hot personality.

I don't know how current her website photos are, but if they are new, she
    looks damn good for 47.

  2. One more SP quote:

    "Eat dough, look like dough."

I agree with all of this, although IMHO I've always though Susan
Powter looked like an unattractive version of Annie Lennox with her
    short-cropped hair and all...

Yes, she is in a good physical shape, but I would not consider her

When I heard her last she seemed bitter. Ah well.

I don't blame her for the anti-fat crusade. She was just listening to what
the medical community was saying at the time. We all were fooled.

Well, that paragraph proves once and for all that she's a moron. Thanks.

  10. I guess I was wrong. Her website must be quoting her out of context.
Presumably she was commenting on the Atkins media surge of a year or two
ago. Taken as they were presented, they sounded like pro-atkins words.

Women, weight loss, and everything else connected to Woman for a long

took it as a change of context and skipped away to her video samples.

  15. Stuff I love about Susan Powter (in no particular order):

The scandal that she might not have ever actually been fat.
The way they call her low fat approach revolutionary when in fact, it
was the common wisdom of the last thirty or forty years, and probably
    wrong to boot.
The spiky hair (lamentably replaced with very strange hair indeed)
The fact that her show features music by a womyn named Animal.
    The angry militant lesbian feminism.
This one time when I watched her show and she was complaining about low
fat ham. It went something like this. The ham is low fat. Ham is pig.
Pig is the international symbol for fat. How can they make a low fat
    pig?
The anger directed towards St. Louis stalwart and Hollywood resume
    entry, Monsanto.
The liklihood that she ate a donut backstage at Fox News.
The black spandex pants of Classic 90's Powter.
Trailer park yoga!!! (If you don't find the concept of a 47 year old
lesbian mother of 3 doing yoga in her doublewide just to prove it can
be done amusing, you need to see a doctor about that)

Always better to have rabble rousers around, even if they rouse the
    rabble in the wrong direction.

I deeply wonder if she would do an appearance for a bunch of guys. I
would bet that if the check clears, she probably would, and not do
something delightfully liberal activisty, like donate the proceeds to
some organization trying to make The Man obsolete.

I hope she doesn't get as ubiquitous as she was back in the day. Would
be a sad thing. If the Eades were better skilled personalities, I would
pay money to see a debate, but I fear they would be Fox'd out of their
opinion (shouted down on their own time and hushed during Susan's.)

Thanks for bringing Susan to the group, Cubit.

-Hollywood, ironic nihilist who greatly enjoys Susan Powter in a Tao
    kind of way.

  17. I saw a picture that was supposed to be her as obese. However, she doesn't
seem to have the loose skin one might expect.

I never heard she was a lesbian previous to your post.

It looks like my original post was dead wrong about SP's view on Atkins. I
guess the only thing left of value from SP is her opposition to food
ingredients that one cannot pronounce. (Did it get that right?)

Didn't know she had a "show," unless you mean the infomercial.

  18. I'm an informercial junkie, so that must be it. Ron Popeil is my hero.

She talks pretty openly about her men-o-pause, and how she's on full
pause from men. I don't think she always was, though her rants against
the patriarchy seemed to be heading there.

There was a story that the one picture of her fat was not authentic.
IIRC it was a family member who ratted on her, though she says it was
the tabloids who paid richly for her brother to lie about her. Like
much of the 90's, it's hazy and indistinct in my mind, especially since
it hasn't been featured on VH1's I love the 90's yet.

I believe that some chemicals are good and others are not so good, so
her opposition to food ingredients I can't pronounce quickly is not a
plus in my apartment. Diff'rent Strokes.

In one of her books, I read several years ago, she said she had a tummy tuck
because it was being paid for by someone else.

  20. And from the unbiased author of the article about Susan Powter, I love
    this little classic gem:

"Cavuto tried to 'get' her in a slimy Fox News-way: He made a remark
about her having eaten donuts backstage. "

So, bringing up an obviously interesting observation based on what
Cavuto apparently personally saw during an interview is supposed to be
an example of slimy behavior? If he saw her eating donunts backstage,
I fail to see what's wrong in that. Apparently some people can't stand
    the truth!
