A couple months ago, one of the local vocal vegetarians had a letter to
the editor published in the local newspaper. The letter tried to smear
Dr. Atkinks, dredging up the old nonsense on his autopsy weight,
banruptcy of Atkins Nutritionals, etc and trying to make the case that
LC is totally bad. I sent in a letter in response, pointing out the
correct facts.
The interesting thing at the time was that a couple of other folks on
here reported seeing virtually identical letter from other writers in
their local newspapers, indicating that this was a coordinated letter
writing campaign, orchestrated by the militant vegan organizations.
Well, in today's paper, the same schmuck has a letter published
claiming that to conserve energy, we need to give up eating meat and
dairy products. He claims 15% of our fossil fuel energy is being used
to grow and process meat and dairy products. Of course, even if this
statistic is correct, it doesn't show that eliminating these products
will save much, if any energy, as there is no comparison to any
alternative foods. Last time I checked it still takes energy to grow,
manufacture, refrigerate and transport tofu too. But it does show the
desperation of these whackos. They will try to use any angle to
advance their cause.
I'd be curious if anyone sees this same letter in their local papers
this time too.
