  1. Due to vacation planning at work, and trying to coordinate with a few
people, I am trying to plan out a schedule for next summer.(Plus it will put
things into perspective for my training).

My question is, what is a good space between races to allow for recovery? I
figure I am in good enough condition right now that I could complete(no idea
how well I would do, but I could finish) what is known as a
Try-A-tri(300-400m swim, 10-15Kbike, and 2.5-3k run). Just to get
accustomed to transition, etc., I plan on making my first race one of those,
but I also think that a good 6 months for training would allow to do Sprints
    somewhat ok.

I am looking at a total of 4 or maybe 5 races, spaced out close to a month
apart, with one exception if I were to compete.

Am I overdoing the recovery time? Assuming no other considerations, what is
an optimum time between races, or at least a minimum period between races?

    Thanks.

Without knowing the details (what your goals are, what your fitness
background is, how often you plan to train, etc) 4 to 5 races with a
month between each sounds absolutely fine in terms of recovery.

What it wouldn't be fine for is trying to peak for each race - e.g.
having a taper before and recovery period after. Suggest you pick one
or two races to focus on and structure your training to peak for these
races (lots of advice on structuring training programs on this group if
you search or some good books out there). Other races you can treat as
training milestones to monitor your progress and get some experience in
transitions, etc., but should just be incorporated into your training
(maybe a light day beforehand and afterwards if you're stiff).
