    I have a Schwinn Premis and want to upgrade the components. Question is will a "new" cassette fit onto the rear hub?

    How can I find out?

    What type of hub do you have? Campagnolo or Shimano?

    What type of cassette do you have? 7, 8, 9, 10 spd

    What type of cassette do you want to put on? 7, 8, 9, 10 spd

    The type is Maillard

    The cassette is Suntour, 7 spped

    What type of cassette do you want to put on? 7, 8, 9, 10 spd

    I'd like to put Shimano ultegra's back on, 9 speed.

    LBS = Local Bike Shop

    The spacing on a 7 speed freehub won't allow you to mount a 9 speed cassette - you'll almost certainly need a new rear hub, at least.

    Thanks for the acronym deciphering. To me, LBS is an abbreviation for "pounds - mass", not local bike shop. Imagine my confusion.
