  1. You can't walk without pain because you're obese.

Try eating less and doing some exercise.

Also, this is exactly the reason you shouldn't be giving diet advice. Seems
like common sense, but in your case it needs to be directly stated.

I wonder if the nuts are causing me not to lose weight?

Well, it depends how big your bowls are - but what you listed sounds very
sensible to me, low carb and not silly on the calorie front either. Two
possible thoughts; could you try eating the same amount but over, say, 5
meals in the day, to give your metabolism a boost? Or try shaking up your
calorie count - if you really are eating pretty well the same amount of
caolories every day, try going 200 up for a couple of days. Sounds wierd,
but it's broken stalls for me! Ah - thought 3 - do you like green tea?
That's supposed to be another metabolism booster.

And unless you feel you're pigging out, I'd stick to the nuts. There's lots
of studies that say that people who snack on a handful of good, healthy nuts
(not peanuts, but almonds or walnuts generally) eat less calories than
    people who don't.

I doubt that any study will show that regular consumption of a food as
high in calories as most nuts will assist in weight loss. A very small
handful of nuts, walnuts for instance, will run to three or four hundred
calories. A bowl full sounds excessive.

Low carb eating is simply a way in which to allow a person to consume
less calories with less difficulty. The total calorie consumption is
    what actually counts.

Those tiny (75gram) packets of nuts that they pass out on airlines
contain more than four hundred calories. How many of those packets fit
    into a bowl?

Pre menstrual? Someone hide the remote control and you can't remember

Whatever it is, your pain shows. You have my sympathy.

Come on JC, you can do better than this. Most people decide that
repeating someone loses its appeal by the time they get past five or six
    years of age.

    Quoted message said:

Try eating less and doing some exercise.

I couldn't do that JC, in fact I am trying very hard to eat more and cut
back on my exercise. I have been getting stronger but not putting on
much size. Need to rest on alternate days. Besides, with the warm
weather I am spending more time out on the water, kayaking and
windsurfing and less time in the gym. I have under five percent body fat
    - what is yours like?

I have a sneaking suspicion that although you might take comfort in not
being obese, that you are in fact not as slim or as fit as you would
like people to believe. Your obsession with abusing people you perceive
as overweight and your constant failure to understand what is meant by
low card dieting seems to support such a probability. Your posts appear
spiteful and resentful. Unless you were unsuccessful in controlling your
own fitness and weight, you would have little reason to resent those who
are making an effort to control their own weight.

Either that or your own life is so lacking in successful endeavour that
mocking those heavier than yourself is the only way you can feel
superior. Either way it is rather pathetic.

    Why?

Do you really think that I am in the slightest bit concerned about
whether you agree with me or not?

You are taking yourself far too seriously.

Regardless, a photograph would only show that I am thin, too thin, and
not indicate a true body fat percentage. Unless you would like to
provide airfares and arrange an immersion test in Texas, then it is
    unlikely to happen.

Of course if you are keen enough about seeing proof and are prepared to
provide the airfares etc., I wouldn't object. I haven't spent time in
Texas since the seventies and I quite enjoyed my last visit. I am fairly
resilient and could probably even manage to put up with your company. <g>

  14. I seriously doubt that you are at 5%, which also throws into doubt most of

It nice to know that I can cause you serious doubt.

I do wonder why you are even interested, but I guess that in order to
understand that I would probably need to know more about you than I
would like to. You can regard me as fat or thin, short or tall, whatever
you wish. I have my own agenda, you don't figure in it.

I find it interesting that you seem to delight in attacking those you
deem to be overweight, plus apparently, those who are trying to gain
weight while remaining low carb. What is missing in your life that
causes you to haunt newsgroups at all hours hoping to offend people?

Why do you think that I would be concerned with your impression of me? I
suppose that it is because that when bored I will sometimes respond to
you - most seem to ignore you. I am insomniac, (narcolepsy, also, like
the diabetes, medically induced) so I often become a little bored during
the night. You offer a (very slight) diversion on occasion.

You miss your mark with me, I have a bullet-proof ego, enough arrogance
for any two people and contempt for anyone who appears intelligent but
acts dumb. As is your wont.

I might have some degree of concern regarding the way someone that I
respected regarded me, but a troll of limited intellect, or at least of
limited repertoire? (You do realise that you are boringly repetitive and
noticeably lacking in wit and humor?) Why don't you work on your
    "schtick"? It couldn't hurt.

  16. You must be concerned, given the amount of response you feel is needed.

Again: you are not at 5% bodyfat, and eating several meals per day has no
    advantage over a few.

First two weeks, I did the same thing but without the nuts and low
    carb ice-cream.

Can you see anywhere I could be mucking up the Atkins plan?

I eat a lot more veggies. I do best with weight loss when I really
incorporate veggies into most meals. There's such a huge variety to try.

While I believe that nuts, cream, and cheese are all good things... be
    careful about your quantity.
I think Atkins suggests limiting cheese to 4? ounces a day. I love cheese
    also, especially tasty cheese. 🙂
Make sure you know what an ounce of nuts looks like. I eat nuts daily when
I have them, but I've gotten good at knowing exactly how much one ounce
looks like because that is a lot of calories. Cheese is full of calories
also. While I don't count calories on a daily basis, every now and then
I'll enter what I've eaten into Fitday to get a count. I'm eating about
1800 - 2000 calories when losing weight... and I'm young, tall, and
    physically active.

If you're feeling not hungry, I'm wondering if you're overdoing the calories
and that's why your body is telling you that you're full.

So I would suggest... measure your cheese and nuts. Try making scrambled
eggs with water instead of cream, or measure your cream. After measuring
everything you've eaten, enter it all into Fitday and see what you come up
with. You could be fine, I certainly don't see any "red flags" but this is
just an idea. I'm thinking there's probably nothing wrong with your carb
count, but if you have too many high-calorie foods your body can only burn
    off so much.
How much do you need to lose? Are you exercising?
