  1. As is usual on a Friday with Goatage I set off about an hour later than normal for work; I've no real desire to put extra hours in and the lie in's nice :-)

That puts me on the road at about 07:30 for my run in to the city. The traffic's a bit heavier than it is at 06:30 but here's the thing: they're better behaved.

OK, completely unscientific but it's been my expereience. Take today for example, approaching a junction on Nepean and a Land Rover zooms past me to the lights indicating left. Oh goody, thinks I, I'm going to get squeezed.

But no, the lady stayed well over to the right making it bloody obvious that she knew I was there and expected me to filter up to the stop line on the left. How courteous, bet your ass I waved some cheery thanks.

Hit some congestion down Nepean along the stretch with all the car shops, many drivers going out of their way to move right on seeing me charging down at 30km/h. I even noticed some motorists indicating before manouvering!

All in all a great run in apart from one idiot on a hybrid who nearly took me out when I stopped for a pedestrian red light. He was obviously far too important for that and must have thought I was too 'cause he missed me by about an inch. Guy was an absolute idiot, one of those `I'm at war with the traffic' types cutting in and out and using ped crossings to cut across. Dunno if he got the message when I overtook him and glared :p

The sun is shining, Goatage in the evening, work's ticking along quite nicely. Now let's wait for some b*&tard to spoil it.

All I have to report is riding out from London without lights (oops, my bad, it gets dark before 5pm now!), [censored] (but riding pretty straight I thought), covered in frickin' safety tape by Sophie the bargirl so I didn't get squished on the way home!!

riding though the traffic... then when I got to work, I find out I forgot
jocks and a belt.. arh well.. lucky these pants stay up on their own..

You're so skinny I would have thought you need a belt for your nix. 😉

Working from home today so no commute, but the day is so nice I just
went out and did a quick 20km. Beauuuuuuuuuuutiful.

Nice to see someone's been getting the Boddingtons in.

    thehippy.netdisplayimage.php

Given your new career, I trust you are a regular at the Duke of York these days?

But you linked to a.b ;-)

If you want that sort of debate just check the archives of uk.rec.cycling

me, I always carry lights. Much more important than the other thing that I'll not name here :-)

Yeah, I'm a knob. I KNOW "just one" is never "just one"!!
I was carrying my bag and I didn't want to put a few hundred grams of LED flashing gear in *smacks unprotected head* 😉

  10. Ah, yes. The time-dependency of car driver's skills. Much studied.

    Before 7am:
Semi-amateur mixed in with speed freaks who imagine the road is empty.

    7am-8am
Absolute professional drivers. They know every inch of the road, and
drive sensibly and with great skill.

    8am-9am
    Occasional ragged individual.

    After 9am:
Total losers. They are either late for work, lost or seriously
hungover. Even worse they may be going shopping. Incredibly dangerous
people. Motor skills only on one day a month, selected at random.
    Visual skills, none.

    Weekend:
Either get up before 8am or just sit in a darkened room. You don't even
want to know what is going on out there.

Someone spoiled it. Not my fault though.

Glad I didn't ride in today. I think you must have used up all the good
    karma, with that run!
