As is usual on a Friday with Goatage I set off about an hour later than normal for work; I've no real desire to put extra hours in and the lie in's nice :-)
That puts me on the road at about 07:30 for my run in to the city. The traffic's a bit heavier than it is at 06:30 but here's the thing: they're better behaved.
OK, completely unscientific but it's been my expereience. Take today for example, approaching a junction on Nepean and a Land Rover zooms past me to the lights indicating left. Oh goody, thinks I, I'm going to get squeezed.
But no, the lady stayed well over to the right making it bloody obvious that she knew I was there and expected me to filter up to the stop line on the left. How courteous, bet your ass I waved some cheery thanks.
Hit some congestion down Nepean along the stretch with all the car shops, many drivers going out of their way to move right on seeing me charging down at 30km/h. I even noticed some motorists indicating before manouvering!
All in all a great run in apart from one idiot on a hybrid who nearly took me out when I stopped for a pedestrian red light. He was obviously far too important for that and must have thought I was too 'cause he missed me by about an inch. Guy was an absolute idiot, one of those `I'm at war with the traffic' types cutting in and out and using ped crossings to cut across. Dunno if he got the message when I overtook him and glared :p
The sun is shining, Goatage in the evening, work's ticking along quite nicely. Now let's wait for some b*&tard to spoil it.
