  1. getting to the nyc marathon expo before it really started enabled me to
have a conversation w/dk. based on photos...thought he was 6' for some
reason...i think they intensionally make him appear to be a bigger guy
    in photos. if he's 5'8", it's by a hair.

talked about mental tactics in endurance running...he gave me some good
pointers. i then told him i'd like to clear something up once and for
all, the large hawaiian pizza, cheesecake, and cup of coffee....all
while running....should i take that literally or is there some slight
embellishment for sensation creation going on?

he grinned, laughed...and said, "no....that's what i do". i said,
"how exactly"? he said "the coffee goes in his camelback....and the
pizza....the key is to order thin crust only....ya see that way you can
roll it up and hold it in one hand like a burritto....you can't roll up
standard or thick crust pizza.....and I carry the cheesecake in my
other hand in the box like you would a book". he can be an animated
guy and tends to tell the story with visuals. he sold me as it being
plausible and the joke we kick around now about this is now ruined.

i believe the books characterizes this in a fashion to create a bit of
folk lore (i.e. carrying 2 round disc shaped items and a cup of coffee
to boot)....now he did not say this to me but i assume someone while
he's running hands him the coffee filled camelback...he put's it
on....he then is handed a prerolled up pizza for one hand, and a box
    of cheesecake.

just popped up to solve this great mystery and lore of r.r.

The book tells a different story--the cherry cheesecake was balanced on
top of the pizza box in one hand, while he ate with the other. The
coffee was in his water bottle. I wonder if he's read his own book.

Never let a good story get in the way of facts. 🙂

This was interesting; thanks for posting.

So what's the deal, then? You've picked up your number; are you
    definitely running?

No. He just went to schmooze with his idol, DK.

  7. Don King?

    Don King?

    Or maybe Donna Karan.

I'm still hoping to meet the other DK, not having gotten to the expo
    yet. Deena Kastor.

I'd also much prefer to meet Don Kardong over that other guy: Kardong
may have never gobbled a large pizza, cheesecake, and coffee on the
run, but he did once theorize, "without ice cream there would be
    darkness and chaos."

Pendejo, who, had I lived in SF, would have voted Jello Biafra of the
    Dead Kennedies for mayor

But Don King has MUCH cooler hair.

i believe i can land at the GCM point ball & mid sole and fall/lean
forward and Pose the whole distance. i might even run faster than if
i knew i has some room for error/sloppiness in technique. Danny
Dreyer/Chi is just another flavor of the same thing right? i'm very
    strong & think i can go 2 x 1/2M + 6Min or better on this course, which
    would be 3:00.

I will LMAO at this moron crashing.

i will have to apologize to folks here, donovan's liltle
"spear" language / reference in a joke statement of comedic intent
brushed a little to close to "[censored]" w/me and then when he further
marginalized me characterizing me as an underachiever, unfit to run
distance, etc. that accumulation of his [censored] blew my fuse, but will
serve as added motivation to chase sub 3 on sunday.

No, your anger from years of being slaves, plus Donnies comments, will
force you to run at a pace you can't hope to sustain, and you'll crash
and burn at mile 22. Of course leaving your nose bone at home will
save you some weight, and might help you get to mile 23 before you
    crash.

i bought a smaller/thinner itb band at the expo that i will carry on my
person, along w/a tube of extra strength ben gay. to transport all
this [censored] i'm running in a triathlete's singlet with a web'ed band of
back pockets at the lower spine.

Might want to include some subway tokens just in case. 😉

i'm going to rely on romanov pose technique entirely. I totally
believe it.....as per Romanov... "Whether we understand it or not, the
way of landing is the way of channeling of kinetic energy of the body
in the desirable direction. If we allow energy to flow freely, without
brakes, our body will not be harmed by our own body weight movement".
"When the body moves through this structure [POSE}, there is minimum
brakes for the movement of the body forward, and neither knees or hips
are sliding to the medial or lateral side, so there is no load on the
    ITB."

San Francisco Uber Alles!! Well, given the choice between Dianne
Feinstein, some unknown gay guy, and Jello Biafra, who else could you
    vote for??

If it's not too much to ask, would it be possible for you to
carry an HRM that can wirelessly send data to a website so
that we know how you are really feeling instead of having
to extrapolate that from your checkpoint times?

In any case, good luck. May the force be with you.
