I'm a 48 y/o male. My weight has ballooned to the highest it's ever been.
I did weight watchers in the eighties and then discovered Atkins in the 90s.
Have done it a few times but always slid back, gaining more weight each
time. I think my problem has always been that I get bored with LCing and
eventually begin to crave cookies. First it's just one, then two won't hurt
and before you know it, half the box is gone. then some fruit to wash it
down.
Last year I read The South Beach book and came to the conclusion that it's
similar to Atkins - although healthier - low fat, etc. The first 2 weeks fo
SB seems very simimlar to Atkins.
So this past Monday I decided to go back onto Atkins for a few weeks and
then will switch over to SB for the healthier version of the diet. After 3
full days, I'm already feeling better, am in ketosis and feeling positive.
I've been walking about 1/2 mile after dinner with dog at night.
I've been eating 1 fried egg with leftover kielbasa for breakfast. Lunch
has been a LC salad and a diet coke. dinner has been either grilled chicken
or steak with some steamed cabbage and last night I had grilled some scrod
and encjoyed some crab legs with some steam cauliflower. I've been working
quite hard at not snacking, as that is my downfall.
I've got to work at making this a lifestyle, rather than a diet - however
things come along - parties, travel, drinking, football tailgating. Makes
it tough to stick with it. for instance, I'm planning a trip to Amsterdam
with my wife in December - - will try to remain good, but expect to slip
some - afterall, it's Holland - - not like their known for thier slimming
diet.
Looks like a good group of folks here - Hopefully I can get the support to
keep it going. Thanks for listening.
