The human body does not use carbohydrates for energy. We do not use sugar for energy. Or glucose for energy. We get our energy, are powered by, ATP. Adenosine triphosphate (among some other things that aren't glucose). Yes, everything must enter glycolysis to produce ATP, but glucose by itself does not power the body. There's a powerful bond between phosphates in ATP and it's ready to burst and there's a lot of energy packed in there. That's my scientific explanation.
If I'm wrong correct me and call me an idiot. I think about 1% of the population knows about ATP. Just seems like it should be more. It's annoying.

ATP is part of how. But it isn't the piece of the process that we can control. We get to control the inputs. Which happen to be carbs, proteins, fats and alcohol.

ATP is for intra-cellular energy transfer. The energy has to be transported to the cells somehow.

Recent studies show that the brain is quite happy to use ketones for energy in preference to glucose.
If all else fails you can try ethanol as a fuel source 😄
