  1. So is it possible for anyone to participate in those threads without
    picking nits or hurling insults?

I wonder whether disc brakes loosen quick release levers. Anybody have
    any ideas on this subject?

Yes. And with kill filters and an early bailout, it's possible to say
your peace and leave before you see any Arguments start. Sometimes
there are entire rational brances in those threads, but not so often
that I read them very much.

QRs are released in flight by rockadilloes. They're particularly
attracted to shiny things that go fast. Covering things with duct
tape sometimes causes the 'dilloes to wait for the next victim.
Duct-taping the QR to the fork leg might prevent the dilloes from
    releasing the lever.

Excellent. I finally have a use for the wrench set my father gave me. He
used it when he worked on his MG TD's.

  12. i think you forgot an apostrophe:
"That's "son," you cretin." or "That is "son," you cretin."

the comma can be either inside or outside the quotes but i think
    outside looks *right*.

(now, did i forget yet another capital or chose not to use it?)

Use single quotation marks inside doubles.
