He's got some other interesting auctions going on as well, all due to end
around the same time: I'll have the Leica M6, ta very much, though the
Mackie sound desk would look nice in the front room.

I clocked the Mackie too. The request to contact him for postage options
seems interesting. Someone who could sell that sort of hardware (Without
explaining where it was from) could probably cope with the time required
to enter postage options.

Sure is. The "contact me about postage" is just so they can move the
dealing out of Ebay where they will then proceed to take your money
(usually via Western Union) and then disappear. Alternatively they want
you to pay someone else a lot of money for the goods after they have
sent you a cheque for the extra money. You clear the cheque, pay the
money and six weeks later the bank writes to tell you their cheque is
dud and takes the money back out of your account. The too good to be
true pricing is the usual lure for the gullible and greedies.

As for the goods, where they're from doesn't matter because they don't
exist in the first place. I am always amazed at the people who think the
goods really exist and if only they can be smarter than the scammer,
they will get them at a bargain price.

Last sale which got feedback was in July.

No PayPal option. Think I'd leave it.

Having said that the last item was sold "from" France.

Funny you should say that - but until I went to Switzerland recently and
hired a bike, I didn't know that the brakes are the opposite way round to
here in the UK as one of our party found out the hard way.

There was recently a very dodgy looking Greenspeed tandem on ebay - it
disappeared, then came back with a different seller name, then I think
it disappeared again.

Moving the sale off eBay could simply be scamming eBay (using their
services but not paying their fees). ("Come round and see it and we can
agree a 'Buy it now' price for cash" rather than "Send money by Western
Union".)

they could enquire.

Well, I won 7 items and got 3 automated emails from "Marketworks". Other
than that, no contact from the seller.
His email address from ebay and the one given in the emails also differ.

No surprises there, then.

I expect he was only after as many contact email addresses as possible,
as suggested earlier up there^.
