My wife and I are big curry fans. Most every week, we would have a fish curry, a prawn curry, and a meat curry.
The meat curry tonight is venison. When we get venison, we get sausages, mince, steaks, and diced. It's the latter that goes into the curry.
A shiraz to accompany it.

We fry onion, ginger and garlic in a little olive oil. Add diced venison, toss until browned. Add our curry paste (see below). Add coconut cream. Add some stock. Throw in some diced sweet potato. Small amount of sliced green capsicum. Small amount of brown sugar. Simmer until the meat is cooked. Add half a cup of chopped coriander.
Serve on steamed basmati rice.
Curry paste: Red chillies Cinnamon Lemon grass Galangal Prawn paste Coriander seeds Cumin Kaffir lime peel Garlic Oil

This sounds really good. All our favourite stuff! Any venison in particular? We don't get "deer" and "elk" in this part of the world (RSA), but we do have kudu, duiker, etc. I think it's worth a try, even with tougher cuts of beef.

No, the deer farm up the road just give us a variety of venison from time to time.

I don't know how many "South Park" watchers are here, but that was part of a recent episode. An uncle takes his nephew hunting, along with his nephew's three friends. The uncle explained that although many of the animals he was shooting were protected by law, it was okay to shoot them as long as the shooter repeated the magic phrase, "HE'S COMING RIGHT AT US!" (Thereby establishing self-defense as justification for the shooting.)

I've never asked this person to teach me to make curry. I'm glad to know I'm not "most people" 🙂
