GPS and Mapping Software

Memory-Map allows you to download a tracklog. And if my memory serves
me correctly, you can also then convert this into a Route.

Oziexplorer downloads all the data and will show it as a table. You can
also look at the saved .plt file with many tools - it's basically just
text (see example:-)

so getting it into Excel is pretty trivial.

As far as I know, Tracklogs V2 throws away the time stamps (as it also
throws away the comment field on waypoints). Even if it didn't, the
'save file' format (.trl) is not text, and not easy to decode. Not sure
about V3 - I'm boycotting it. 8>.

Tracklogs does what you want, but so do all the others, probably.

It does it with each trackpoint it produces actually.

FUGAWI will tell you how long you stayed at a point.

Gpsbabel will read data from a GPS and convert it to any one of a
number of formats, including generic spreadsheet tables.

It's free, too.

your post. The words "not easy to decode" suggest
that you have decoded the format or know someone
who has. Details of the format would be most useful.

I use G7toWin, you can download/upload waypoints/routes/tracks to/from
a Garmin, Magellan, or Lowrance/Eagle GPS.

Downloaded items can be exported to various formats including csv for
use in Excel

Nope, I've looked at the format with a binary file reader, and decided
that decoding it is more bother than its worth, given the numerous other
ways you can get tracklogs off a GPS into some saner format.

It would appear then that both Anquet and Tracklogs V2 both throw away
the waypoint time stamps so that leaves Memory Map and possibly Fugawi.

If possible I am trying to avoid having to shell out for two programs to
do the job I want.

Many people to recommend Oziexplorer so I shall take another look, but
it seems a bit complicated to me.
