father in law's Metairie, Louisiana house has been spared. They
returned home today to see the house and pick up a few things. A
little shingle damage is the extent of it. I'm not sure when they
can return for good. Their house is only about seven miles from the
devastation at the Super Dome. We are so, so happy and grateful.
With every reason to be! I'm very happy for you. My aunt and uncle used
to live in Metairie. Lovely area!

Great holiday fare! I wish I had done that, but we were out of propane,
and so was the place where we usually get it.
Instead, I made a very "un-holiday" meal. A 5 boy chicken curry. I made
all the "boys", too. For desert we had a traditional Indian goat's milk
ice cream with rosewater and pistachios.
Very nice meal, but sure didn't feel like a holiday.
