Yep I just got back from a walk to the shop, add wind chill (coz it's
certainly blowing) to that and it's bloody cold. Glad I didn't check the
temp before I left the house, and even gladder no commute for me today.

Those maxima are pretty appalling, but only getting down to 4 or 5deg C?
In Brisbane it has been getting down to 7deg C!

I should add, sorry, that we've been having maxima below 25degC, no

But I like rain less.
Aug-> Oct is my least fav time of yr to ride in Melb. Not so much the cold, but the intermittent, inclement weather & how the wind picks up.
We can all plan for a day of rain, but them short term blitzing showers & wind gusts when you're far from home are not nice.

It's not that bad riding through the rain. Although it's not much fun getting to work soaking wet. After living in Melbourne for a while, the rain doesn't really bother me anymore, and after Around the Bay 2003, I can ride through just about anything.

sitting on that damn ferry shivering and then getting on bike in queenscliff in drizzle/wind desperately trying to get warm. the only thing that made me warm wa sseeing how bad the volunteers had it! respect!!

School buses are not running as they cannot see the road - it looks the same as the road verge and the paddocks. It's all very disney-pretty but lots of tree branches coming down under the weight, plus very slippery roads.

Getting to work I can handle, nice warm shower and clean dry clothes.

Leaving work when bike gear hasn't dried out >bleh< and then there's
cleaning the rims, brakes and chain on returning home. Pain in the ass.
