  1. hey,
can anyone recommend a good pair of headphones for running?
i've tried a few different types of earbuds and those premolded rubber
clip headphones and have yet to find one that doesnt slip out in the
middle of my run. i thought the premolded rubber ones would be
better, but they dont fit around my ear properly.

also--do you have a preference to having either (1)those headphones
with different lengths--(i.e. the cord for the right side is usually
longer than the left and i guess the intention is to have the cord hang
behind your neck? ) or (2)- the regular old school style of both
sides having equal length in wire, like the standard earbuds that come
    with the ipods?

seems to me that the tradt'l headphones work better for me--but they
seem to be hard to find in the retail stores.

You only have one ear? Well then I'll cut my fee in half for you.
Normally for $40 I come to your home or office, and I pour molten
rubber around your ears to make a custom molded ear phone. Half price
    for you.

    I use these:

  4. Lose the headphones: they're simply dangerous distractions while road
    running.

OTOH, these appear to be popular models:

Nice to hear from you. Hope things are going well.

    I really like these headphones:

The cord hangs down your back, so they don't fly up in your face when
    running.

  7. Sony S2 Sports MDR-A35
The MDR-A35's comfortable, ultrasecure fit and sweat-resistant earphones
make this pair a leading choice for working out.

I used to use a set of in-the-ear headphones - the ones with the pill
sized speakers that fit into the cavity of your ear. They worked well -
very lightweight, and they tended to stay put. Best of all, when there was
outside noise you could still hear it.

But I'm with the others. There are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't
wear them. I don't feel sorry anymore when I catch up and pass someone
wearing headphones, and despite a reasonable effort to get their attention
in advance, they have a heart attack when I finally blow by. IMHO,
headphones are for being a passenger.

See, they should've had that EKG after all! ;-)

(Of course as originator of the "chest pain" thread I was perfectly
happy with a couple strangers' suggestions that "hey, it *might* be
    something other then your ticker"...)

FWIW, I'm also thoroughly anti-headphone-while-running - if the runner
is anywhere near other people in motion (whether on foot or in
vehicles) he's a hazard to at least himself, probably others too.

Wow, long time no hear. I see you are running very well. Going to try to
qualify for the next Olympics at the marathon distance? You won't be
able to hide your real identity once you on the front page of Sports
    Illustrated like Lance. 😉 Goals?

i love using my head phones. strange, i can't fit in with this ng for
some reason- runners are too smart or something for me to relate with
(not being sarcastic). and this isn't directly posted at you charlie,
yours was just the last post on the list so you got picked.

a penguin brings his car in for service and while they're working on his car
he goes next door to get some ice cream. well it's a hot day and the ice
cream drips all over his little penguin tuxedo. after an hour he goes back
to the mechanic and the mechanic says, "looks like you blew seal" and the
    penguin replies....

    Vicar,

No lie, that is my favorite joke in the world - well, it had a pretty
good shot because my joke memory only holds 3 medium size jokes. The
wife is rather fond of it as well, and has told it often. And without
fail, in her version, the mechanic says "looks like you blew a gasket."
She'll pause, during which you can see the wheels turning as she tries
to remember what comes next and where the damn punch line went...

  18. Following a 9 month (if you get my drift) detour from training, I'm
back, more or less. Actually, less. But the year's young. So along
the lines of "just checking in," who of any interest is posting
    anything of any interest?

Goals? Live long, prosper, etc. Some things don't change. Headphones
while running are lame;heartrate monitors are cute and expensive toys
but are also lame; 8 minutes per mile and slower is often fun and all
    that, but is still jogging.

Let's see if giving birth makes you a better/faster runner or is this
    more myth.

What no GPS to go with the headphones and HRM's. You will never make the
    "in" crowd. 🙂
