I have picked up a few of the the moutnain bike magazines I see in the book stores, and for
the most part have been disapointed with them. I don't want to read a magazine to be told what
to think about certain aspects of biking, I want good reviews and information pertaining to
the sport. Some magazines even go so far as to include political issues (that don't relate to
biking), if I want information on politics I'll pick up a copy of USA Today. So my question is
after I ranted, are there any mags or E-mags out there that I can depend upon for stories and
reviews that pertain to biking.
I'll buy them when I am traveling, easy, quick reads which are convinient in a busy airport. But do
not expect to get much valuable information. I suppose if you are really new to the sport and don't
know how to adjust your deraillure (or spell it 🙂), they may have some benefit, but otherwise most
tend to be a framework for selling bikes and assorted parts. As far as reviews, I would most
certainly take them with a grain of salt. Remember, the reviewers are not you, they don't have the
same expectations, same riding style, same riding area, same budget ... And the bike manufacturer is
probably paying a fair amount to advertise their bikes in that rag, so how un-bias could the review
really be. Personally, when I read any review, I like to read only the negative stuff, they tend to
provide me with more useful information, especially if I can get some idea of the reviewers
experience.
