where common sense dictates.

As a longtime lurker on this NG I have always been impressed by the TR
and grateful for the wonderful phtographs which often accompany them.

Now that I have become hooked I find out that there is an end of term test.

It is just not fair!!!

Silly guess - Ill Bell?

Congrats to RW and Simon for identifying the tarn - it is indeed Blind
Tarn. RW is also quite close with the gridref.

You're partly correct Fran about the word "tarn" being a clue - I
should have said "name the tarn/llyn". However I may have (mistakenly)
asked for the "tarn" even if it was in Wales.

None of you have got the summit right yet though - it isn't The Old Man
of Coniston or Ill Bell (nor indeed Fred - what do you call Welsh
mountains Fran, Ffred perhaps?).

Here's a piccy of Ill Bell - certainly a similar shape to the cairns,
though they're much bigger on Ill Bell...

You didn't ask me where it was - you just asked me to name it. So I

from a possible Blencathra in the far distance, it could work out as being
Wetherlam. If I'm right I consider it pretty good going, since I've never
been up there!
