  1. Thats it training done, halfway through the resting and eating phase,
less than one week to go. About 6000 miles in the bag, every ride since
November has been aimed at this. Sitting on the kerb at a petrol station
in Taddie on Christmas Day, I hope the great cycling God feels appeased
    enough to guide me through.

Four commutes to go, an easy tootle on Friday afternoon to register them
I'm there, 08:30 on Saturday 23rd July. Aim to finish before the pubs
shut on Wednesday. Wish me luck, say hi to me, check my blog for regular
SMS updates on my progress http://spaces.msn.com/members/mseries/

Good luck to all other riders, if you see rider 70, that'll be me.
Thanks to the voluntary helpers without whom there wouldn't be an event.

Best of luck Martin - I'll spare a thought or three for you next week.

You'll be fine anyway - all that dedicated preparatory work will pay off
    in spades.

I was using your name and imminent momentous achievement today on the
Manchester Blackpool, everyone was impressed. Or thought you as mad as a
box of frogs, one or the other anyway ;-)

Cheers Tony. Years ago when I lived in Blackpool I joined the
Manc-Blackpool ride. Was a blast, I'd like to do it sometime for real.
Should have got my act together and done it this year, I did 52.6 miles
today as an easy active rest ride.

Not that you'll need it, your planning and prep seem most excellent, but
good luck and fair winds. 😉

I'll content myself with a 1000+km July this time around.

Best Wishes for a great ride 🙂

    you are scary....

however in my defence, I really pushed on a bit today and left my buddy
(a keen cyclist from here in Hyde) on all the climbs, also I felt great
to boot. We did 3.45 for the 59 miles, which included a small
nana/comfort break at Haigh Hall and a longer break a bit further on
while I repaired a rear puncture.

    A top day!

    best of luck,

Hey! Good luck! That's one heck of a ride but you certainly seem pretty
    well-prepared for it!

Good luck, Martin. We probably won't meet on the road as we're starting
from opposite ends of the country. I'll be carrying number 241. For
anyone interested the complete list of starters and the entire route
sheet can be found here: <http://www.audax.uk.net/el/index.htm>.

I toyed briefly with the idea of doing the Oakley Summer Breezer today,
but decided a weekend off was probably best. The National 400 last
weekend was the last planned long one before LEL, and I haven't touched
the bike all weekend. Five shortish commutes to go just to keep the legs
turning over and the bum hard, then the 35k ride to the Lee Valley Youth
Hostel on Friday evening for the pasta party, and to be ready for the
Saturday morning start. Still wondering what to put in the Hovingham bag
drop apart from my sleeping bag and a spare pot of nappy cream.

I see Helen Vecht is on the list of helpers at Lee Valley.

You won't be lacking motivation then. Don't forget to offer up a couple of
inner tubes to You Know Who before you go.

When I did the London-York I couldn't help thinking that I had only done
one quarter of the LEL which put it in perspective for me. The man's
mad but good luck all the same!
