RNK said:I was wondering whether there are any good info sites about pedals. For
example, which types there are, what to look for, features,
(dis)advantages, which shoe goes with which pedal, etc.
I browsed around Sheldon's site but couldn't really find anything
concrete.
I assume you've seen this then:

It really comes down to your type of riding (road/mountain, racing, fast
club rides, touring, short easy rides) and what's most important to you
(walkability, platform size, amount of float, ease of entry and exit).
Shimano SPDs are very popular for mountain biking, and also for road riding.
Shoes with recesses for the cleat make walking easy.
Look pedals are the standard for road racing, but are no fun to walk in.
Then you have Time, Speedplay, Crank Brothers, Shimano SPD-SL, and various
other types that each have their fans. Some folks still like the old rat
trap pedals with toe clips and straps.
My own favorite combination for road riding is Shimano PD-M520 SPD pedals,
and Shimano T092 shoes (recessed cleat, looks like a road shoe).
