Google has already been suggested.

I assume you use OE's "syncronize" function to download new messages from various groups? Well, OE
is doing what you told it to... "syncronize" your computer with your ISP's news server. Once a
message is gone from the server, OE also deletes it from your computer. You may want to create a
"local" folder in OE, then use Edit, Select all...... Edit, Copy to Folder..... to safely stash
them away.

I find searching hard to phrase in order to experience a reasonable degree of success.

But then, I also think YOU should know what I mean, regardless of how clear I am. LOL
