Suddenly I feel like an amateur, I do my 20 -30km a week, that is the time I
have available and that is mostly @ 5 in the morning and then twice a week I
put in a double shift one in the morning and one in the late after noon. Is
swimming all you guys do? How much do you do Micheal, anything remotely
close to this that can validate your ability to do the 8 km. Here is a real
chalenge for you Micheal, I asked for a couple of hard sessions on this
site, work them and reply to them, there is some nice ones in there.
Then from my side I will commit to swimming that 8km the same day you do in
a dam or lake in my area, it's winter here now thus if you are fast to do
this you can make me suffer for putting you through this. We can set a date
and the GMT time and we can swim @ the same time. Anyone else want to join
in, we make it a global race. You record your time and enter it here and we
know who wins, what do you get: nothing just have some fun, this leaves
nobody with a reason to lie about their times. Any one interested?

I have one question.... Did those people who have swam the english
channel
Quoted message said:Quoted message said:and across the various great lakes do that same distance nonstop in a
pool?
I haven't swam English Channel but I swam Lake St-John (32k & 40k,
Canada),
Quoted message said:Lake Memphremagog (42k, Canada), Atlantic City Around-the-Island Swim
(36k,
Quoted message said:US), Hernandarias-Parana (88k down a river, Argentina), + many other 15k &
more races. I was training mainly in pool (7-11 x per week) + few training
in open water at the beginning of the summer or when I was in training
camp
Quoted message said:in Florida (3-4 open water swim per week). Longest distance non-stop in
pool
Quoted message said:was 20k (I did it 3-4 times, usually once a year) but regular session in
pool were between 8-13k. Highest milleage for a week was 140k (11
trainings). Average was probably between 60-75k.
