On OLN yesterday there was a program about Greg LeMond. After reading Hinault's book and then listening to LeMond I think that Bernard probably couldn't let go of the idea of winning a 6th Tour himself. But I think that Greg would be best advised to listen to his OWN words, "I could tell now that if I'd won 5 or 6 or 7 Tours it still wouldn't be enough."
A lot of [censored] happens in races and it's always best to forget it completely afterwards. No anger, no grudges and no worries. Of course if you're the one that caused it perhaps you ought to try to do better next time without having Johnny Dumbfvvk screaming at you.
Greg's wife looked well preserved. Good thing she got a decent hair cut and lost the 80's glassess

I tend to agree. I guess Hinault himself is much closer to that philosophy.
Note also that there is at least one TdF which Greg lost to a teammate who was obviously superior and for this loss he cannot blame the team manager, nor EPO.

was, and maybe still is, a little too sensitive. Because,If he wasn't, he would have won a lot more races. Including the amazing Tour de France.
Sensitive or not, somehow I seem to recall that he did fairly well in the TdF in '86, '89 and '90.
DR
And he would have had a great chance of winning in '87 and '88 if it wasn't for the "lead poisoning". The comeback from that is almost as impressive as Lance's. Lot's of parallels, with the weight loss and all.
If he would have done that now, with the TT he put on Fignon... people would be talking about dope.
There's no more to it. I think the implication is that iron isn't about to make the sort of improvement that LeMond saw so he had to be taking something else.
BS, what he took was enough training for his body to re-adapt. LeMond in '86 was all hell and gone better than Fignon. LeMond in '89 was about the equal of Fignon but Greg was FAR more motivated than Laurent, who made the mistake of demonstrating to Greg his irresistable French charm.
Kyle, who do you lean for in this year's Tour then? If you HAD to pick, which guy is your man? I'll commend you if you go out on a limb. -Ken
I don't have to pick, that's the beauty of free will.
Being who and what you are, you had no choice but to write that. If you had written something else, you would be someone else other than the person who wrote the above.
Play on the wording: Not having to pick negates will.

I guess not that long. You'll have to give me the short version. I read he got a couple shots of iron for anemia. More to it?
Well, the statement was about talking about dope. If you plug those keywords into google groups you will find lots of talk about dope.
I suppose you could plug just about any pro cyclist's name into google groups and find talk about dope.

Google.com Results 1 - 10 of about 230 for "bob schwartz" dope. (0.28 seconds)
You really set yourself up for that one Bob. Pro or not ;-)
Them's just jokes.
Yeah, but are those hits about Bob taking dope or being one?
