On OLN yesterday there was a program about Greg LeMond. After reading Hinault's book and then listening to LeMond I think that Bernard probably couldn't let go of the idea of winning a 6th Tour himself. But I think that Greg would be best advised to listen to his OWN words, "I could tell now that if I'd won 5 or 6 or 7 Tours it still wouldn't be enough."
A lot of [censored] happens in races and it's always best to forget it completely afterwards. No anger, no grudges and no worries. Of course if you're the one that caused it perhaps you ought to try to do better next time without having Johnny Dumbfvvk screaming at you.
Greg's wife looked well preserved. Good thing she got a decent hair cut and lost the 80's glassess

I tend to agree. I guess Hinault himself is much closer to that philosophy.
Note also that there is at least one TdF which Greg lost to a teammate who was obviously superior and for this loss he cannot blame the team manager, nor EPO.

And he would have had a great chance of winning in '87 and '88 if it wasn't for the "lead poisoning". The comeback from that is almost as impressive as Lance's. Lot's of parallels, with the weight loss and all.

There's no more to it. I think the implication is that iron isn't about to make the sort of improvement that LeMond saw so he had to be taking something else.
BS, what he took was enough training for his body to re-adapt. LeMond in '86 was all hell and gone better than Fignon. LeMond in '89 was about the equal of Fignon but Greg was FAR more motivated than Laurent, who made the mistake of demonstrating to Greg his irresistable French charm.
