He's really had a remarkable run of luck during his string, and I sure
as hell hope it continues. I'd hate to see a bad luck crash take him
out. I do hope that if Lance goes down and it's not serious people wait
for him to get back on.
I know a lot of people here probably think that she was stupid,
because it's all about the win but I'd take her on a team any day:

Daniel Coyle quotes Ferrari to the effect that such a crash will cost a
rider 10% of his possible output due to the healing process. But then he
has several days before the race starts.

Why was Lance riding with an umbrella when this happened?

Strength training. The umbrella adds to wind resistance proportional to
the speed he's travelling. This helps to develop an explosive sprint
and is an essential element of Lance's strategy to capture the green,
yellow, polka dot and white jerseys in this year's TdF. The other
elements of his strategy include filling his lungs with helium and lying
about his age.

Are you kidding??? By the RBR Adrenaline Theory, LANCE just
wrapped up Tour #7. They might as well not even hold the race
now. Well, I guess they still have to run it to see if
Voeckler can get in a break on Bastille Day.

I read he lost control because he was waving away a wasp. Didn't want
the damn thing to get stuck in the innertube, presumably.

Dumbass,
Chris Horner is going to win on Bastille Day. Tell Voeckler he can
come along for the ride, but not to get his hopes up.

Yes, but current adrenaline theory research only covers the timespan
immediately after the adrenalizing event, not several days after.
Volunteers are required to further research into any long term effects,
either positive or negative. People with broken collar bones and ribs
however need not apply.

I hope it wasn't one of those wasps that Lafferty says transmits stomach
bugs.

He was waving away the Arenesp(sp?)

You need to take what Ewoud said with a bit of salt and drink.
The NY Times reports that Armstrong was injected the wasp poison, not
in the nose but in the eyelid. An assistant help him with it.

Always, but what I left above is exactly what I read on
http://www.nu.nl/news/547383/45/Armstrong_valt_voor_wesp.html (Dutch
news snippet website).

Ah, like Vaughters. Sounds like a nasty experience. Will he now come to
the Tour with a doctor's note for corticoids?

By Ferrari's testing, Armstrong last year could "only" produce a sustained
30 min. output of something like 490 watts; not his usual 30 min. at 500
watts (I loaned the book to a friend and can't check the exact number).
This was why he decided not to attack on the first mountain stage last year.
If the accident costs him 10% of his power output, it could be a serious
disadvantage to lose 40 or 50 watts. But he does have sufficient recovery
time before the climbing begins.

Such cynicism is uncalled for in the case of this Great Champion.

Or the mosquito that sucked Hamilton and put a trace of somebody else's
blood in with his.
