  1. ....in my stomach.
Thursday afternoon I get to speak to the parks board about what "my" new
club has been doing with the trails (clean up and maintenance) at the park
we adopted through their adopt-a-park program. I've got it down to about 7
minutes. What's really hilarious is that all parks board and other city
meetings get broadcast on public access TV.

and no, our infamous mayor will NOT be there.

    yee-haw.

Just remember who put those people in place. They are still your
neighbors and nothing more than that. Just because they have a part time
job deciding what to do with your taxes does not make them the King's court.

    Go get 'em!

Does it get streamed? Probably not, but I'd watch and cheer for you if
    it was...

it's pretty funny, they are always showing council meetings and what not,
and you will always see someone you know while channel surfing....

    I can get video.

If anyone cares to see, I've got the ppt file loaded on the web for a number
    of reasons, 14 MB
    http://www.specialtyoutdoors.com/misc/sekani.ppt

I was finally able to use all the pics I've been taking over the years.

Thanks for making us the "good guys", Penny. A few people I rode with
this weekend and I saw a few of the "bad guys" and it always torques me
to see irresponsible turds on bicycles. Just remember, we outnumber
the turds and must let them know that.

Cool. Nice work. The content looks great.
The PPT file could use a little help IMO. LMK if you're interested in
hearing what I think it needs to look more professional.
I have to do PowerPoint presentations on a semi-regular basis and while
I don't fancy myself a guru, I noticed a few things that could be fixed
    in it.

To help you relax, just picture them watching you as if you are wearing
underwear. Or is it you watching THEM while wearing underwear?

Aw shoot, I always get that messed up. The important thing is, always
wear clean underwear to speeches just in case you have an accident on the
    way there. Or something.

sure, shoot me an email or you can get my phone # off the web site.
I've never done anything in power point, so I thought just getting all the
fonts to match was a good thing.

Go for it, girl! You'll be great. And that ppt?! That is a class act.

Remember how responsible, ecologically friendly we are compared to most
other users, and the typical demographic of a NW mountainbiker is generally
upper to middle class, taxpayer in their 40's. So that helps our case, too,
to show we're not a bunch of juvenile delinquent dewbies, but actually give
back far more than we take.

    That doesn't work very well if there's a hot chick in the audience;
You're already nervous with sweaty palms, squeaky voice and now you have
    an erection, too. Not good!

You, but I'm only projecting because I don't do well speaking in front
    of crowds.

    I'm sure you'll do fine :-)

After I got done with the nervous breakdown from the criticism, I
made a few changes as suggested. Now I will really kick some park
board behind. The new improved ppt is at the same location. Thanks
for the help, Matt. Now, what should I wear...?

    Penny

I think your site is down (12:00 PM EDT)or DNS problems.

    back up now.

  16. Bottom line - I think they love us!!!!!

I gave a 6 minute or so power point presentation about our club and goals,
bike recreation at Camp Sekani/Beacon, what we have done up there so far (
trail maintenance and clean up ) and what we would like to do in the future.

It was great to watch the faces of the park board, especially when I talked
about the demographics of your average mountain biker, how far people come
to ride at this area showed the amount of
trash we pulled out of there, and then when I showed a photos of things we
want to fix and talked about the education component, as in teaching
    appropriate use
    of the terrain.

The only commend after my talk was, "WOW, you guys have really done
something fantastic" and the only question was about where we recieved our
training on how to do trail work. ( the Eastern WA IMBA rep for the past 15
    years is our guy)

Jeez, I've got a bee's nest under my deck. Two cans of spray down and
they're just snickering at me. Maybe some wasps'll do the trick.
