Top posting just gets you killfiled. As does posting HTML, or failing
to trim, or properly quote. Why bother reading posts from morons?

I unabashedly love *all* you rfc miscreants...hehe...and I really do not
want to come off like a noodge...
*But* some of "yoose" (to borrow a word from Sheldon) *really* need to show
some consideration to others here...
AND START TRIMMING YER GAWDDAMN POSTS...
Ya see, sloppy trimming has *really* become rife on this froup...it's a bad
habit, it makes folx do a lot of EXTRA work...making someone scroll down 50
or so lines so's someone can read your one - line reply is LOUSY
MANNERS...and that is a certifiable fact.
Please, it only takes a few seconds at *most* to edit/trim the post you are
replying to, be considerate and don't make others do *your* work, e.g. don't
make others *plow* needlessly with their mouse or scroll bar so as to be
able to read your posts...
IMNSHO not trimming yer posts is equivalent to inviting friends over for a
nice dinner party and not having any toilet paper - or even a flushable
toilet - in the loo...you get my drift ;--p
I DON'T want to hear, "Oh, but I post via Outlook Depress, it is confusing,
too much work, blah, Blah, BLAH..."...
I post via OE and manage to take the time to at least try to trim my
posts...I even manually write my sig line at the end of my posts
[BOGGLE!]...it AIN'T rocket science kids...it's just a few keystrokes.
[And just so ya know, I pride myself on the fact that my posts are not only
perfectly formatted, but the *content* of my posts is perfect too...heehee
;-) ]
Look, this is a fairly high - traffic froup...if it was only a few posters
here it would not make a difference, but this here froup gets sometimes
several hundred posts per day...
I'm on the verge of putting about a half - dozen of you sloppy trimmers in
my killfile - it's nothing personal, I love you ALL, but myself and some
others here are real tired of having to put up with your lazy Usenet
netiquette skills...
Kids let's put the kibbosh on the sloppy posting habits..pretty please...???
"Now let's get out the bong, pass the wineskin around, hold hands, and sing
Kum - ba - ayah...."

Amen, Greg. I've already done it. Also, nothing personal, but why
scroll down 60-70 lines to read a single line of reply. Besides, I
find those who exhibit this kind of behavior usually have nothing
to say, anyway.

No it isn't when you remember that some posters around the world pay for
their internet connection by time and the time it takes to download long
untrimmed posts is a waste of money (and time)

One forgets about slow internet access and being charged by time. We
have quite a fast 24/7 connection that we pay a flat rater per month
for. However, will try to be a good trimmer 😉 for those people who have
to pay for time..

As you have broached this topic, I'll take the opportunity to bring up
a related one. A number of people have switched to the new Google
interface for reading news. Due to the broken implementation, the
standard reply at the bottom of messages there doesn't do any quoting
at all. This is just as bad as not trimming, as it provides no context
to the reply.
Fortunately, there's an easy solution to this. Click on "show options"
and use the Reply shown in the expanded headers. This will give full
quoting and attributions in the reply. Then of course, trim properly.

I agree that posts should be trimmed for the sake of clarity. I confess
howver to having a problem with the argument that some people pay for
download time. I do not doubt this is true, but is it really right to ask me
and others to spend time trimming posts just to save you a few pennies? Yes,
it's the "nice" thing to do, but is your connection bill really my concern?
I am playing devil's advocate here, but I think the question is valid.
